The Las Vegas entertainment calendar slows down between the Memorial Day holiday in May and Independence Day in July. That doesn't mean nothing is happening, but there are fewer residencies, big concerts and standup comedians. And if the Vegas Golden Knights didn't make it back to the Stanley Cup Final, the only sport being played in June here would be the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces.
Before we look at this month, we should look back. Las Vegas is a big event city, and one of the largest happenings of the year took place in May. EDC saw about 175,000 revelers daily during the three-day EDM music festival, and we were there to take it all in.
Restaurant Week Las Vegas takes place during the first 12 days of the month. It's a great way to explore restaurants and possibly find a great deal on the cost of a meal. Even better, a portion of each meal goes to a good cause.
The transformation of The Cromwell into Vanderpump Hotel is just about done, and the grand opening is scheduled for June 11. Vanderpump chips are now in circulation, and remodeled hotel rooms are available to guests.
Visitors in June will see mostly familiar faces returning for residencies and stand-up comedy shows. They'll also be able to celebrate Pride Month all over town.
Las Vegas will start celebrating America's semiquincentennial for 250 years of independence early, with the first four of eight consecutive weeks of fireworks shows. The free summer concert series at the Fremont Street Experience, Downtown Rocks, revs up with a couple of shows this month.
Sure, building a trip to Las Vegas around a big event is fun, but it's not necessary. Between the clubs and theaters throughout Las Vegas, there's always some form of entertainment to enjoy.
Sometimes the best Vegas trips happen when you skip the plan and just go with the flow.
Sports in June kick off with the Vegas Golden Knights returning to the Stanley Cup Final for the third time in nine years. There will be at least two home games, 3 and 4, at T-Mobile Arena on June 6 and 9 (assuming the Carolina Hurricanes close out the Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final on Friday). Otherwise, Games 3 and 4 will be played on June 9 and 11, respectively. Then, if necessary, Game 6 will be played on June 14 or 17. All Stanley Cup Final games are scheduled to start at 5 p.m. (PT).
The Las Vegas Aces return to their home at Mandalay Bay for six games this month:
The World Cup begins on June 11. While none of the 104 matches will be played in Las Vegas, sportsbooks will offer odds on all the games, and there will be watch parties throughout the tournament that continues into July.
Lookahead: The Aces return to T-Mobile Arena for a couple of games against the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever on July 3 and 5, respectively.
Even though the music calendar is light, it's full of popular returning artists. It will be a busy month at the Sphere with No Doubt and Kenny Chesney taking the stage three of four weekends this month.
The Sphere added six more Eagles shows to its never-ending residency on Sept. 18 and 19, along with Nov. 13, 14, 27 and 28. This will take the Eagles to a total of 64 shows at the venue, more than any other performer.
Mary J. Blige's new residency at Park MGM has already extended with 10 more shows from August through October.
Lookahead: Illenium returns to the Sphere for two more shows on the July 4 weekend.
The free Downtown Rocks concert series at the Fremont Street Experience continues in June with two familiar rock bands.
Lookahead: July starts with more free concerts during the first two weekends.
The summer touring season is big across the country, with large outdoor concerts in amphitheaters. Since high temperatures in Las Vegas start peaking above 100 degrees in June, they typically avoid Sin City.
Two arena concerts will bring different vibes to Las Vegas
Stand-up comedy has been having a moment in Las Vegas with plenty of resident performers and national tours every month. June is a little break for the big shows, with only four funny people performing in the large casino theaters.
The casino comedy clubs will be supplying most of the laughs this month.
As May ended, the long-running Aces of Comedy series at MGM Grand announced Tim Allen will return to perform on Aug. 8.
The Cosmopolitan recently added two more shows to the Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias residency on Sept. 11 and 12.
