Most people walk into a casino, hand over their money, and walk out with either slightly more or significantly less. Both outcomes are perfectly fine. But if you're not signed up to the casino's rewards program, you're leaving value on the table every single time you play. Land-based casino rewards programs — also called players clubs or loyalty schemes — let you earn points just for doing what you were already going to do.

Those points add up to free play, complimentary hotel stays, restaurant credits, show tickets, cruise discounts, and a whole lot more. The best programs span dozens of properties, link your online and in-person play, and keep piling on the perks the higher up the tiers you climb. Here I'll cover the biggest and best land-based casino rewards programs in the world, plus everything you need to know to make the most of them.

How Casino Rewards Programs Work

Well first thing's first: signing up is free. Walk up to the players club desk, hand over your ID, and you're in. From that point on, your gaming and spending earns you points. Now, you (probably) can't just cash out your points and exchange them for some money. But those points are effectively worth real money if you use them right.

Most programs run on two parallel tracks. First, you earn reward credits (sometimes called comp dollars or reward points depending on the operator - in fact there's an incredibly long list of different names these come under). Whatever they're called, you can usually spend them on things like free play, hotel stays, dining, spa treatments, and entertainment. Think of these as your spendable currency.

Second, you earn tier credits, which determine your loyalty status. The more tier credits you rack up, the higher the tier you reach. And just as you'd expect, the higher tiers unlock better perks, bigger casino bonuses, and more generous discounts.

One thing worth knowing upfront: free play and cashback are not the same thing. Free play has to be wagered back through the machines. Cashback comes straight back to you as real money. Programs vary on which they offer, so it's worth checking before you get too excited.

Tier status typically resets at the start of each year, so the clock is always ticking. Points and credits can also expire if your account goes inactive, which I'll explain later on when I share my top tips.

Before then, let's discuss some of the biggest and best examples of land-based casino rewards programs around the globe.

The World's Top Casino Rewards Programs

Caesars Rewards (🇺🇸🇨🇦)

Caesars Rewards is the biggest casino loyalty program in the US (and it's not even particularly close). You can earn points across 50+ Caesars Entertainment resorts and casinos across the country, including Caesars Palace, Harrah's, Horseshoe, Flamingo, and Paris Las Vegas - plus Caesars Windsor in Ontario, Canada. That's as well as anything played through the Caesars online casino and sportsbook, which is accessible in both countries. Everything feeds into the same account here.

You earn tier credits based on your play in Caesars Rewards casinos, as well as purchases at participating restaurants, entertainment venues, and more. The program runs six tiers, with meaningful perks kicking in at the Diamond level and above. Those include resort fee waivers, VIP lounge access, and airfare credits at the top end.

☑️ 50+ properties all under one program and your points travel with you

☑️ Earn points at the tables, slots, sports betting, dining, and hotel stays

☑️ Online play counts toward the same tier status as land-based play

☑️ Redeem your points for free play, hotel stays, dining, show tickets, and more

☑️ Partner benefits including Norwegian Cruise Line discounts and Wyndham Rewards transfers.

MGM Rewards (🇺🇸)

MGM Resorts casinos are found across the US, from the Bellagio and MGM Grand in Las Vegas to MGM Grand Detroit in Michigan. Every US property feeds into the epic MGM Rewards program, which you can also link to BetMGM's online casino and sportsbook. Work your way through five tiers and you'll unlock benefits like personalized offers, resort fee waivers, and cruise perks. Reward credits can be spent on free play in-person or online, and on food and beverages at MGM-eligible venues. Note that MGM's Macau properties operate their own separate M life loyalty program, which is distinct from MGM Rewards.

☑️ Covers iconic Las Vegas Strip properties including the Bellagio

☑️ Link to BetMGM online — earn in-person, redeem online and vice versa

☑️ Five tiers with escalating perks including exclusive casino promo codes and resort fee waivers

☑️ One of the widest US footprints of any casino loyalty program.

Unity by Hard Rock (🌍)

Previously known as the Seminole Wild Card, the program was relaunched as Unity by Hard Rock in 2022. And it's now one of the most expansive loyalty programs in the world!

Unity by Hard Rock offers VIP treatment at over 200 Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming locations worldwide and membership is completely free. You earn Unity Points on gaming, dining, hotel stays, and shopping - all while tier credits determine your status within the program. The more you play, stay, dine, and shop, the greater your rewards become. The program includes a digital U-Wallet for cashless slot play at participating locations. Plus there's priority seating at Hard Rock Cafes, birthday offers, and exclusive event access.

☑️ 200+ locations worldwide on one card

☑️ Earn on gaming, dining, hotels, and shopping

☑️ Digital wallet for cashless play at participating casinos

☑️ Priority seating and exclusive event invitations across Hard Rock Cafes globally.

Station Casinos Boarding Pass (🇺🇸)

If you're visiting Las Vegas and planning to play like a local rather than a tourist, the Boarding Pass is the program you want. Station Casinos operates 17 properties across Las Vegas (think Durango Casino and its like) and all off-Strip and built around the locals market. And that means better odds, cheaper drinks, and a rewards program that punches above its weight.

Reward Points can be redeemed for free play, hotel stays, dining, and more across any Station Casinos destination. The program runs five tiers, with status earned in six-month rolling periods so your progress stays relevant year-round. New members receive free slot play worth up to $500 just for signing up. Not bad!

☑️ One card works across all 17 Las Vegas properties

☑️ Earn on slots, table games, sports betting, bingo, keno, poker, dining, and hotel stays

☑️ Six-month earning periods mean faster status and more frequent rewards

☑️ Consistently voted by locals as the best casino players club among all Las Vegas casinos.

Wynn Rewards (🇺🇸)

Wynn Rewards covers Wynn and Encore Las Vegas and Encore Boston Harbor in Massachusetts. Those are this program's two US properties - but don't let that put you off, because the details are where this one shines.

It runs four tiers: Red, Platinum, Black, and the invite-only Chairman's Club. Tier Credits are earned based on your average bet, the type of game you play, and how long you play, across slots, video poker, and table games.

The program splits your earnings into two currencies. Slot points convert into FREECREDIT for free play. COMPDOLLARS, earned from both slots and table games, can be spent at select restaurants, retail, the spa, the salon, and your hotel folio. Higher tiers earn COMPDOLLARS significantly faster, making the climb genuinely worthwhile. Note that Wynn's Macau properties run their own separate loyalty program and are not part of Wynn Rewards.

☑️ FREECREDIT earned online redeemable at land-based properties and vice versa

☑️ MSC cruise discounts and complimentary sailings from Platinum tier upward

☑️ Birthday dining credits and spa credits from Platinum tier upward

☑️ Personal casino host access at Black tier.

Grosvenor Casino Membership (🇬🇧)

With over 50 casinos across the UK, Grosvenor is well worth signing up for if you're a regular visitor. Members get fast-track entry into land-based casinos, the ability to transfer funds between their online account and physical venues, and access to welcome bonuses at both. The cross-platform flexibility makes it one of the more seamless programs in the UK market these days. And with venues in (almost) all the big towns and cities - everywhere from West End London's Grosvenor The Vic to Glasgow's Grosvenor Riverboat on the Clyde - it genuinely gives you that sense of freedom to choose between land-based and online.

Great Canadian Rewards (🇨🇦)

Great Canadian Entertainment operates casinos across British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario. Joining Great Canadian Rewards earns you points as you play, redeemable as free play directly on slot machines. Tier credits unlock additional perks including cruise discounts with Norwegian and vacation packages.

Galaxy Privilege Club (🇲🇴)

Galaxy Macau runs a four-tier loyalty program. Between those levels, the perks including dining discounts up to 10%, movie discounts, complimentary Wi-Fi, and theater shows. The higher you climb, the more generous those discounts become - obviously. The Galaxy Privilege Club app lets you manage everything from your phone. It's the icing on the cake for one of the glitziest Macau casinos going.

Club Royale by Royal Caribbean (🌍)

For the nautically inclined, Club Royale rewards your casino play on Royal Caribbean ships with points redeemable for free play, spa discounts, Wi-Fi packages, complimentary drink packages, and jewelry discounts onboard. But that stuff's small fry if you simply love cruising. The real bonus here is in the exclusive access you get to all things Royal Caribbean. As you climb the four tiers, you'll gain access to things like one-off and personalized room rates, priority contact details, and even a free annual cruise trip on the house.

Crown Rewards (🇦🇺)

Crown Resorts operates three major resorts in each of Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. Playing at any of these as part of Crown Rewards earns you points redeemable for discounted movie tickets, hotel stay discounts, and other perks. All that lands across five tiers, which you can climb gradually. Membership status is reviewed every six months, so regular play is important to maintain your standing.

Sands Rewards Club by Marina Bay Sands (🇸🇬)

The Marina Bay Sands casino loyalty program lets you collect Sands Dollars, which are then spendable across 250 top brands globally. Tier points unlock benefits including access to the Ruby Room, parking privileges, and enhanced discounts. It's one way to make this top class casino experience feel even more exclusive and memorable.

Christchurch Casino Players Club (🇳🇿)

Christchurch Casino is the earliest of the New Zealand casino resorts, having opened in 1994. And - you guessed it - it runs a tiered Players Club. Members get free parking and birthday specials from day one, with higher tiers unlocking up to 15% back on all purchases and elevated points earning. Rewards are redeemable at the casino's restaurants and across on-site perks.

My Tips for Maximizing Land-Based Casino Rewards

I've spent more time than we'd care to admit inside casino loyalty programs. that means testing them, comparing them, and occasionally being seduced by the promise of a free cruise. And after all that, here's what I've discovered actually matters.

✔️ Sign up immediately, even for a one-off visit. It's free, it takes two minutes, and every session you play without a card is points you'll never get back. There's no reason to wait.

✔️ Understand what you're earning before you spend. Free play and cashback sound similar but work differently. Free play must be wagered through the machines again before you see any return. Cashback comes back as real money. If you have a choice, cashback is the more straightforward value.

✔️ Always use your card and every single time. Untacked play earns nothing. Hand it to the dealer before a table game session starts. Insert it before you spin. If a session doesn't get tracked, it doesn't count.

✔️ Remember that slots earn comp points faster than table games. Counterintuitive but it's totally true across most programs. The house edge is higher on slots, so operators are more generous with points to compensate. If maximizing rewards is your goal, factor that in.

✔️ Keep an eye on your points expiry. Most programs cancel points after a period of inactivity. Usually this is either six or twelve months. If you play infrequently, it's worth logging in occasionally to reset the clock, or redeeming points before they disappear. Remember you can do this simply by playing online for some programs.

✔️ Choose a home casino and commit to it. Splitting your play across multiple programs means you'll never build meaningful tier status anywhere. Pick the program that fits your habits, concentrate your play, and climb the tiers.

✔️ Think of multi-property programs as a travel cheat code. Schemes like Caesars Rewards and MGM Rewards work across dozens of properties. If you travel frequently, your status and points move with you. A tier you earn in Las Vegas works just as well in Atlantic City or Detroit.

✔️ Online play can count. Several operators (including MGM Rewards and Caesars Rewards) link online casino and sportsbook activity to the same account as your land-based play. If you play online, make sure your accounts are linked so nothing ever goes to waste. Now that's how you maximize!
