Durango Las Vegas Review for February 2026

Although Las Vegas is known mostly for ‘The Strip’ and all its iconic landmarks, casino resorts built off-Strip have seen a huge boom in recent times. Located just 8 miles away from the famous ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign, Durango Casino Resort is one of Sin City’s newest off-Strip properties.

You might think that nothing can rival the Strip for glitz and glamour, but you’d be wrong. Durango is just one of three luxury resorts owned by Station Casinos, alongside Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch. So what is it that makes these casinos different?

Well for a start, they cater to both locals and tourists, rather than just the tourist scene. That gives them more of a relaxed vibe than the, often manic, Strip scene. Secondly, driving to and from them is easier, as is parking. Finally, these casinos form part of a community hub, so as well as nice restaurants and bars, they are often surrounded by cinemas, shops, sports and leisure activities too.

But, in terms of gambling and amenities, can they compete with the likes of Bellagio and Cosmopolitan? Let’s take a look.

♦️ Durango Hotel and Casino Overview

Durango Station, as it was known then, was originally proposed in 2004 with the aim of opening in 2008. However, due to a series of obstacles, including residential opposition and the Great Recession, development was put on hold. It wasn’t until 2019 that the project once again picked up steam, eventually opening in December 2023.

The delay was probably a blessing, considering how Durango is now located in one of the fastest growing and vibrant residential areas in Las Vegas. And its success speaks for itself.  The initial build cost $780 million, with a $116 million expansion completed in 2025. A second, bigger expansion, is now planned to add additional gaming, dining and leisure space at an estimated cost of $385 million. It’s not doing too bad then is it?

Durango not only looks and feels just as spectacular as top Strip resorts, but it competes on guest experience too. With a hotel, luxurious pool deck, huge casino floor, up-market food hall, giant sports book, high-class restaurants, multiple bars and high-limit gaming, it has the full package. Plus, the luxury interior, comfy casino chairs, and its newness, gives it an extra edge too. If you love lavish casinos, then Durango is a must-visit.

Location

Situated in the south west part of the valley, Durango is less than 10 miles from the centre of the Las Vegas Strip. Located along Durango Drive, beside the Las Vegas Beltway, the casino resort is nestled in the fast-growing Rhodes Ranch/Spring Valley region.

That makes it the perfect spot to enjoy local attractions such as Red Ridge Park, while the Allegiant Stadium with world famous musicians, and international sporting events is not far either.

When it comes to access, public transport is available using the RTC transit system (Line 212 from the South Strip Transit Terminal). However, rideshare/taxi is much quicker.

If you’re travelling between Centre Strip and Durango, the journey should take around 20 minutes with an estimated ride share fare of around $25 - $30. Similarly, if you’re travelling from Harry Reid International Airport then it will take between 12-15 minutes and cost around $20 - $25..

Drivers don’t have to worry about parking at Durango. It has a multi-level parking garage with 2,000 spaces and, as with all Station Casinos, self-parking is always free.

🎰 Durango Las Vegas Casino Review

When Durango was built, it had a casino floor spanning 83,000 square feet. The 2025 expansion added a further 6,000 square feet, so at the time of writing it sits at 89,000 square feet. To put that into perspective it’s similar in size to both Excalibur and Paris casino resorts on the Strip.

For me, it seems a lot bigger, but that’s probably more to do with the layout. The Durango casino floor is just one big expansive space. Unlike most Vegas casinos, it actually has lots of natural light coming in with floor to ceiling windows around the outside. There aren’t any dark spaces or nooks, so it just looks much bigger and brighter than you’d expect.

All three of Station Casino’s luxury resorts are open-plan with an outside-inside inspired design so I had high expectations when I visited. But even I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and sophisticated the Durango casino floor was. Obviously it still has that new-car smell and feel to it anyway, with plush carpets and clean walls, but the design also adds to it with a cream and gold interior.

One thing I did notice on the Durango casino floor was an LED jackpot winners board. Now, I’m not sure if I’m a fan of this or not. Basically, it scrolls through a list of jackpot winners over the last 24 hours. It has the jackpot amount, game machine ID and date/time won. On one hand, it’s good to know that regular jackpots are being won in the casino. On the other hand, I think it might encourage gamblers to spend a little more. The jury is out on that for me.

Overall though, Durango casino has two of my favourite things to find in a casino - lots of space between machines, and easy to move, comfortable seating. So it gets a big tick from me.

Table Games Selection

There are around 60 live table games at Durango Casino with all the usual favourites of blackjack, baccarat, roulette, craps and different poker pit games too.

Blackjack pays both 3:2 and 6:5 depending on which variation you choose, with minimums starting from $10 and $15 at different times of the day. I saw minimum stakes of $5 on roll to win craps, but almost everything else on the main casino floor started at $15 or $25.

The main table games are located across the middle of the Durango casino floor, with slots  north and south of them. As you would expect with a new casino, the standard of the gaming tables was exceptional with immaculate high-grade felt and luxurious seating.

What I really liked though, was the friendliness of the dealers. That’s where the locals' casino vibe really shone. Although I love a flutter at the tables, I’m mostly a slots gal, but I played way longer at the tables than normal because the dealers made me feel really welcome and comfortable. We had a great time!

Although not all of the tables were open on my visit, I could see a good selection of games including:

Durango also offers a good range of electronic table games including a live dealer stadium which looked really popular on my visit. You can choose from live-dealer baccarat, heads-up craps, and multiplayer 00 roulette. Minimums vary on the electronic table games from 50c on electronic roulette to $5 minimum on live dealer stadium baccarat.

Unfortunately, if you’re a poker player, other than the poker pit games and the rows of video poker available, you’ll not find a game here. Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch both offer poker rooms though, if you want to check those out.

Slots

With around 2,300 slots, Durango casino is a slot players playground. And by that, I mean me! There’s something so nice about scoping out a new casino, seeing familiar slots you’ve played a million times, and then spotting a new game or two. Or even just seeing how a new casino lays the slots out, what progressives might be maxed out, wondering what you’ll play first.

I’ve briefly mentioned this already, but I really liked the spaciousness of the Durango casino. Although no area is wasted, there’s enough space to walk around comfortably and pull your seat out without bumping another player.

The slots were grouped together, older games at the top end, with lots of favourites like Dragon Link and Wheel of Fortune, rows of video poker and keno in the middle and then more modern video slots and new releases at the bottom.

Some of the most popular games you can find at Durango casino include:

I had a good little slot session at Durango on my visit. I played some Phoenix Link, Dragon Link and then settled nicely on an old Buffalo Gold machine that seemed to be in the mood to play. After hitting a few low paying bonuses, I landed a $208 win on a $1.20 bet which is always a buzz.

Bar-Top Gaming

I saw bar-top gaming in at least six bars around the Durango casino floor. The Side Bar is situated on the casino floor surrounded by slots. With a casual but sophisticated vibe, you can sit on the high stools, soak up the casino atmosphere and play games. Other bar top gaming can be found in the STN Sportsbook, The DRNK bar within the ‘Eat Your Heart Out’ food hall, the high limit slots area, The George and the trendy Oasis Lounge.

Drinks are complimentary while you play, as long as you’re betting enough, so just pull up a chair, put your money in and play until the bartender asks if you want a drink. They usually have a light system that determines when you’ve qualified for a freebie. But if you don’t get offered, just ask. Always be sure to tip though, especially if you want to continue getting great service.

Sportsbook

The STN Sportsbook at Durango casino is highly impressive. In fact, it’s better than a lot of sportsbooks on the Strip.

The first thing you see is a circular bar protruding onto the casino floor with a huge double -sided LED screen hung above it. So whether you’re sitting at the bar or around it, you have the perfect vantage point to watch the game. It certainly catches the eye!

Inside, there’s a 205 seated race and sportsbook with 6 high resolution LED screens, comfortable seating and a great atmosphere. Honestly, sportsbooks are one of my go-to games in a casino because the vibe is always chilled and I love the sports/drinks combo!

Obviously there’s betting windows available to place wagers and the bar serves a range of beer and shot combos, cocktails and local brewed beers too.

What I liked about the Durango sportsbooks is that it links to The George Sports Lounge too. Featuring indoor dining and a cool outdoor patio with wrap-around LED screen, it’s a really fun place to spend some time. I stayed for a drink, (well I have to test it, right?) and genuinely loved it. I will certainly be back.

Waitress Service

As you come to expect from a Las Vegas casino, drinks are free if you’re gambling at Durango. Catch one of the waitresses circulating the casino floor, request a drink and tip well when they bring it. It’s that simple.

I was there through the day, and although the casino wasn’t that busy, I still saw 3 or 4 waitresses around. I ordered a malibu and diet, one of my little faves, and it arrived really quickly which was great. My top tip for waitress service is to tip well, particularly on the first drink, and you should get some good repeat service.

High Limit Gaming at Durango Casino Resort

High Limit gaming is in demand at Durango, or at least it must be, due to the size and standards of the high limit rooms. With both a high limit slots area and a high limit table games area, there’s plenty of choice for high rollers.

The high limit slots area features its own cage, an extravagant bar area with circular LED screen, and a luxurious outdoor patio too. With around 120 slots, it has a range of casino favourites and newer slots at high denominations. Often, the décor within the high limit area is vastly different to the main casino floor. However, with Durango being so new anyway, there wasn’t a huge difference, it's just all immaculate. But the outdoor patio is certainly something I haven’t come across before in a high limit room.

The high limit table area features single zero roulette, double deck blackjack, six-deck shoe blackjack and baccarat with table minimums starting at $100 - $200 upwards. Neither area was particularly busy during my day-time visit. However, considering Durango has just added a larger high limit slots area, it must be getting well-used.

Just a note for anyone thinking of trying out the high limit area - you can usually find slots with $5 bet minimums, sometimes even lower. So if you fancy giving it a go, don’t feel like you have to bet $50 plus to play there, you don’t. The waitress service is usually a little more frequent there too.

Cash and Payment Options

Usually in Las Vegas casinos, it’s all about the cash. You feed cash into the slot machines to play, and you hand cash to your dealer at the tables to buy in. This is still the case with Durango casino resort, although they do offer a cashless system at some tables.

The PlayOn service allows players to purchase chips directly at the table games via their debit card, however, this is at the casino’s discretion and won’t be available to every player.

The most popular buy-in method across the casino floor is still cash. If you’re playing slots, while you put cash in to play, you’ll get a voucher back when you cash out. This is known as a TITO (Ticket in Ticket Out). You can use this to play in other slots or cash it out at one of the redemption machines in the casino.

At the tables, you buy in directly with the dealer, but you cash out at the cashiers desk by handing over your remaining chips.

🛏️ Durango Las Vegas Hotel

Durango resort has one 15-storey tower with 209 rooms. It offers a range of rooms and suites with either mountain views or Strip views. Although, obviously the Strip views aren’t as impressive as resorts directly on the Strip.

The overall look and feel of the resort is contemporary, sleek, warm and welcoming. The newness is obvious, everything has a clean, sparkle to it. But it’s also got a high-class vibe to it across the board. Even the food hall is a food hall, rather than a food court and it has an Oyster Bar.

What stands out above all else, is how bright and open Durango resort feels. The floor to ceiling windows coupled with the cream interiors feel very different to most Las Vegas casino resorts.

Durango is trying to strike a balance between being glitzy and impressive enough to attract tourists, but comfortable and familiar enough to cater to locals. From my point of view, they’ve got that balance just right.

Durango Resort Rooms

With only 209 rooms, Durango doesn’t even come close to competing with Strip hotels for numbers. As a quick comparison, New York New York has 2,000 rooms and MGM Grand has over 5,000. But, obviously, as a resort mostly catering for locals, accommodation isn’t top of the list.

However, what it lacks in quantity, it more than makes up for quality. I stayed in a Resort King Strip view, and at 480,000 square feet, it felt really spacious. Decorated in clean neutral colours, the room was set out well and all of the furniture and finishing was in excellent condition. The bed was really comfortable, particularly the pillows, and I loved the low hanging brass lighting on either side of the bed.

Other furniture included a desk area with a chair, storage drawers, a big closet, a bench at the bottom of the bed and a chaise lounge in front of the window. There were plenty of electric points and USB ports either side of the bed and around the desk area too.

The bathroom was one of my favourite parts, with a huge shower, double vanity unit, and a high quality marble finish. Amenities included the usual hair dryer, iron/ironing board, in-room safe, bathroom toiletries, plus, the room came with a Nespresso machine with four free pods, complimentary water and robes. All-in-all I was really impressed and would definitely stay here again.

🍔 Durango Amenities

Bars

There’s something for all tastes at Durango casino resort when it comes to bars. As expected there’s a bar right in the thick of the casino floor called the Side Bar, with bar top games and a lively atmosphere.

Around the casino you’ll find the STN Sportsbook Bar and The George Bar, both with an emphasis on sports. Within the food hall, the DRNK bar is a really nice space with an inside and outside patio. I loved the chilled vibe here. And if you want something a little more formal, then the Oasis Lounge has a more sophisticated edge.

The high limit slots lounge has probably the most impressive bar though, with its circular LED screen, glitzy aesthetic and private outdoor space, it’s the epitome of glamour.

Buffets and Restaurants

When it comes to dining Durango has pretty much all bases covered. If you’re looking for fine dining, then you can choose from options such as Nicco’s Prime Cuts & Fresh Fish, Mijo Modern Mexican Restaurant, The Summer House and The Bel-Aire Lounge.

More casual dining is available in the ‘Eat Your Heart Out’ Food Hall. Now, I say casual dining, and it is, but it's maybe better described as informal. Because although it’s a food hall, there’s no sign of the usual Subway, Nathan’s Hotdogs, Johnny Rocket’s type of food here. It’s more of an upmarket affair with the likes of Hawaiian street food from Ai Pono Cafe, hand-made pasta at Fiorella, plus Asian specialities such as Shang Artisan Noodle and Yu-Or-Mi Sushi.

Of course, there’s the aforementioned Oyster Bar as well as pizza, burger and coffee shop offerings too. But overall, the food hall at Durango definitely offers a more elevated dining experience and a beautiful communal dining area too.

My favourite place to dine at Durango, though, is The George. With its indoor/outdoor patio area, chilled vibe, sports screens and hearty menu, I just feel very comfortable here. It's open 24/7 too which is a bonus.

Shows and Entertainment

Entertainment is one area that could use a little improvement at Durango casino resort, however, there are still some events to enjoy.

The Agave Ballroom transfers to an event space for one-off nights such as comedy performances and musicians. Regular live music can be found in Nicco’s Prime Cuts & Fresh Fish and there’s a live DJ most nights in the Oasis Lounge. In the summer, look out for Bel-Aire Backyard poolside concerts where the pool area transforms into an outdoor music space.

💧 Durango Pool and Spa

In a city full of extravagant pool decks, Durango doesn’t disappoint. The Bel-Aire Backyard is a spectacular poolside oasis surrounded by palm trees and fancy landscaping.

If you’re looking for a relaxing haven with chilled music, a chance to dip in the pool and soak up the rays, then it’s the perfect spot. Filled with chairs, oversized day beds and private VIP cabanas to hire, you can be as luxurious as you want.

The pool itself isn’t that big, but let’s face it, it's not for swimming. There’s a main poolside bar serving specialty cocktails and the Backyard Grill has a surprisingly big menu offering sushi, light bites, salads and platters.

One thing to note about the pool area is that because this is a locals casino, you don’t need to be a resident to access the pool deck.

Spa

At the time of writing, there is no spa at Durango, but I would expect one to be added in the future.

💭 My Durango Verdict

Many people wouldn’t even think of visiting or staying in an off-Strip casino, when there are so many to choose from on-Strip. But the truth is, more and more people are.

At Durango casino resort, you can get a lot of the Vegas glitz and glamour but with less of the chaos! With a big casino, loads of game variety, high-limit gambling, sportsbook, plus multiple restaurants and bars to choose from, it has a lot of bases covered. Add in the quality hotel rooms, stunning pool deck, the free parking, and that friendly locals vibe and it ticks so many boxes.

Of course, it can’t give you everything. For many, you just can’t beat that on-Strip or Downtown Vegas atmosphere. Being able to casino crawl from one resort to the next on foot, having all the Strip attractions and shows close by, and hundreds of food and drink variety in one space.

Personally, for me, I like it all. I enjoy the hectic centre of the Strip, the old-school nostalgia of Downtown and the chilled locals casino vibe. If you’re looking to explore the local casino scene, they don’t come much better than Durango casino resort. Plus, with further development under way, it's only going to get better.
