The Mystery of the Lamp slot machine is a magic-themed game that has lit the imagination of land-based slots players since its launch in 2023. Featuring a Genie and three mystical bottles, players can trigger multiple features that include multipliers, boosts, and progressive jackpots in various Hold & Spin rounds.
Visually stunning, Mystery of the Lamp has four different versions - Enchanted Palace, Treasure Oasis, Secret Bazaar and Mystical Gardens. Each one has a Jackpot feature plus a unique combination of other two features.
A big hit with both players and industry experts, Mystery of the Lamp won ‘Top Performing NEW Premium Game’ at the 2024 EKG Slot Awards. Following this success, an online PlayDigital version was launched in 2024, making it possible to play online in selected US states. It is also available in UK casinos and other big gaming markets.
This Mystery of the Lamp slot review will take a look at everything you need to know including RTP, hit rate, min/max bets and help you unlock all 7 innovative bonus features.

Think Aladdin, magic carpets, and lamps that bring wishes when you rub them and you’ve basically got Mystery of the Lamp theming.
Based in the huge Peak Curve 49 Cabinet, the Mystery of the Lamp slot machine stands out on the casino floor. Its overriding purple and gold colouring catches the eye but it’s the three floating Genie bottles that really grab the attention. Each bottle hovers in the air, spinning and bobbing as if it’s alive floating above a pile of gold.
Of course this is perceived progression at its finest (we salute you IGT!). As you collect coloured gems on the reels, the bottles rise higher, the gold piles up and they spin even more furiously than before, making players believe they MUST be about to burst! This is, obviously, just a visual way of getting you to play, but it's very effective. A little too effective in my personal experience!
Once the bottles pop, a bonus round begins, but you must rub the lamp first for it to start. The theme is topped off by a mystical Arabic soundtrack of snake-charmer sounding flutes and the purple Genie who proclaims “Your wishes bring riches!” when you land a bonus.
There is a simple 5 x 3 game grid and 50 paylines in the base game of Mystery of the Lamp but it can expand in the Jackpot bonus. As expected with most modern land-based slots, it offers multiple denominations and bet levels. Here are some key stats to playing Mystery of the Lamp.
Before we look at each bonus round, let’s take a quick look at the different versions of Mystery of the Lamp and which bonuses they offer. All variations have a Jackpot Bonus plus the following two other features:
Available in all Mystery of the Lamp variations, the Jackpot Bonus is represented by a white Genie bottle in the middle of the screen. This is the key to winning one or multiple progressive jackpots - Mini, Minor, Mega, Major or Grand.
You trigger this bonus by collecting white gems on the reels. It can also trigger randomly when the Genie shows up unannounced. The Jackpot bonus can pop by itself or with one or two other bottles. It can also pop during one of the other bonus features too.
The rows double during the Jackpot Bonus, so the usual 5 x 3 grid transitions to 5 x 6 instead. You begin with three free spins and every time you land a value or a gem, the counter resets to three spins. Every white gem you collect turns into one of the progressive values and fills up a counter underneath that value. Fill up all three counters and you win that progressive jackpot.
It’s possible to land multiple jackpot amounts during the bonus, I’ve personally landed two Mini’s and a Minor in one bonus before. I’ve also landed a Major, but that’s another story! The round continues until you run out of spins and then all of the values are added to your total. This can really add up, especially if you’ve popped two or more bottles at once and they are working simultaneously to boost your payouts.
For all of the other bonus rounds the grid remains at 5 x 3 and you collect coin values as normal in a Hold and Spin format. However, every coloured gem you land can either trigger one of the other bottles to burst or action the bonus feature you have already triggered as follows:
A final word on Mystery of the Lamp bonus features has to go to Wilds. Every version contains Wilds that show up, often in full reels, to add to your wins. In some versions, Wilds come with a 2x multiplier too. This can really keep the funds topped up in between the bonus rounds.
Playing in land-based casinos always has the potential to bring extra benefits. Firstly, most casinos have some sort of drinks perk. Whether that’s free waitress service and cocktails like in Las Vegas, or just free tea, coffee and soda on a walk-up basis.
The main perk from playing slot machines is the player rewards programme. Most casinos have them. Make sure you sign up and use your card every time you play as points really can add up. This can lead to rewards such as slot free play, retail and food discounts and even free hotel stays. Despite its high volatility, the Mystery of the Lamp slot machine is a good slot to play to build up points in my opinion. It lets you play for a while, keeping you ticking over with Wilds while you wait for those bottles to pop!
I’m actually a big fan of Mystery of the Lamp, although it wasn’t always that way. The perceived progression on the Genie bottles can really be frustrating. And, honestly, if you only get one bottle pop, the payouts can sometimes be highly disappointing. But, and it's a big but, if you get a double or a triple pop, especially including the Jackpot Bonus, it can be spectacular. Combine that with its unique look, theming and multiple innovative features and it's easy to see why this game is so popular.

Mystery of the Lamp is available to play in casinos across North America and some other key international slot markets such as the UK. In some jurisdictions you can also play Mystery of the Lamp for real money online too.
Each Mystery of the Lamp variation has three bonus features plus Wilds. The bonus features always include the Jackpot Bonus, plus two other features from the following: Flurry, Dazzle, Double, Ignite, Boost and Collect. All bonus features start off with three spins and follow the Hold and Spin mechanic where landing one coin or gem reverts back to three spins.
