Craps Review

I love online casino games, but I get bored fast when it’s just blackjack, roulette, and baccarat on repeat. So when I stumbled into Craps by Play’n GO, I was more than happy to shake things up.

Launched in early 2023, this modern take on the classic dice game keeps things simple: predict the roll and hope the dice behave. That said, there’s more going on here than meets the eye. I played it daily for a full week, and below I’ll break down exactly how it held up – and whether it’s worth your time. There is also a craps demo available to try out before engaging in real money play.

How to Play Craps

Play’n GO didn’t just make a Craps game – they gave it a bit of personality. When you launch Craps by Play’n GO, you can choose between Vintage, Classic, and Modern themes. It’s a cosmetic choice, but a welcome one. The rules don’t change, only the vibe – from old-school red felt to a slick blue modern table with purple dice (my personal favourite).

Once you’re in, the gameplay sticks closely to traditional craps, so anyone familiar with the game won’t feel lost.

Quick Craps Rules

Craps revolves around predicting the outcome of rolling two dice, starting with the come-out roll.

  • The main bets are Pass Line and Don’t Pass Bar
  • A Pass Line bet wins if the come-out roll is 7 or 11
  • It loses if the roll is 2, 3, or 12
  • A Don’t Pass Bar bet wins on 2 or 3, loses on 7 or 11, and pushes on 12
  • Any other number becomes the Point
  • Once a Point is set, the goal is to roll that number again before a 7

That’s the core loop. Everything else builds on it.

Placing Bets & Rolling the Dice

Betting is simple and intuitive. You select a chip value and drop it onto the part of the table you want to wager on:

  • The outer edge is the Pass Line
  • Just inside is the Don’t Pass Bar
  • Other areas allow bets like Come, Don’t Come, and specific numbers

Once your bets are down, click the dice icon to roll. The dealer calls the result, wins are paid instantly, and the game moves on without dragging things out.

The ability to switch between three themes doesn’t change the odds, but it does make this one of the more enjoyable and approachable dice titles I’ve played. If you already understand craps, you’ll be comfortable instantly. If you don’t, Play’n GO’s clean layout makes learning far less painful than usual.

For dice fans, this is one of the more polished online casino games in Play’n GO’s lineup.

Craps Bet Types & Payout

While playing Craps by Play’n GO, I didn’t come across bonus features. To be honest, I also didn’t expect one since such features aren’t standard in classic table games. However, if you’re particular about them, you’ll want to check out my picks for the best online slots with unique features.

Once you get more familiar with the game, you can think about using craps betting systems. But it's much more important to understand the rules and gameplay first.

Craps Strategy

Craps looks chaotic, sounds intimidating, and attracts people who swear they’ve “cracked it.” They haven’t. But you can play smarter and keep the house edge from chewing through your balance too fast.

1. Stick to the Low-Edge Bets

If you want the best value, focus on:

  • Pass Line
  • Don’t Pass Bar

These bets have some of the lowest house edges on the table and should be your default starting point.

2. Use Odds Bets When Available

Once a Point is set, backing it up with Odds bets is one of the few times craps actually treats you fairly. They come with no house edge, which is about as generous as casinos ever get.

3. Avoid the Flashy Centre Bets

Hardways, Any 7, and single-roll number bets look exciting – and they are – but they come with brutal house edges. Sprinkle them in for fun if you must, but never build a strategy around them.

4. Manage Your Bankroll Ruthlessly

Craps moves fast. Set a budget, keep your bets consistent, and don’t chase losses because the dice “owe you.” They don’t.

5. Ignore Superstitions

The dice don’t care how they’re thrown, who’s rolling, or what just happened five seconds ago. Anyone telling you otherwise is already down money.

Bottom line: keep it simple, stick to the smart bets, and treat the rest as entertainment – not a plan.

Craps vs Sic Bo

Just like Craps, Sic Bo is also a dice game. However, although both share lots of similarities, I also noticed a few differences while playing the games.

If you’re an avid dice game lover, you'll know that while Sic Bo depends on the outcome of three dice thrown together, Craps allows players to build their bets on multiple rolls.

But that's not the only difference. The table below contains the top dissimilarities between Craps and Sic Bo.
