East Coast Casino Concert Scene Kicks Up for Fall Festivities

Now that Labor Day is in the rearview mirror, the East Coast casino concert scene is ramping back up. Several casino properties have scheduled a wide range of acts spanning musical genres, as well as comedians to tickle customers' funny bones.

Get ready to crisscross the East Coast as we take a look at the casino concert scene in September.

Plenty of Entertainment in Hollywood and Atlantic City

The fall weather brings some cooling solace to Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, where Hard Rock Live has a packed September, alternative rockers The Strokes open the month with their Reality Awaits tour on Sept. 13, followed by comedian Nikki Glaser on Sept. 18, the Zac Brown Band on Sept. 19, and a joint performance from John Fogerty and Steve Winwood at the 7,000-person venue on Sept. 20. The month ends with TLC and Salt-N-Pepa on Sept. 24 and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer James Taylor on Sept. 26.

Moving up the coast a bit, Atlantic City is stepping up its game this month. Two very different crowds will converge on Sept. 25 as Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, and Saves the Day take over Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena, while music legend Tom Jones will entertain his faithful fans at the Borgata's Event Center the same night.

The following week brings the same situation. On Oct. 2, a Phish sideshow will take over Boardwalk Hall Arena, the Doobie Brothers will be at Hard Rock Atlantic City, and R&B crooner Trey Songz will be at the Ocean Casino Resort's Ovation Hall.

Northeast Popular with R&B Acts

Mohegan Sun in Connecticut offers a strong month for R&B fans. Erykah Badu and De La Soul are performing at the casino's arena on Sept. 17, and Boyz II Men are following two nights later on Sept. 19. Later in the month, country musician Brantley Gilbert will be the star of the show on Sept. 25.

Over at Foxwoods Casino Resort, the Premier Theater brings in some serious star power. Comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short from Only Murders in the Building will bring their jokes on Sept. 25, and Tom Jones will make his way up to Foxwoods from Atlantic City for a show on Sept. 27.

Beyond the East Coast: Honorable Mentions

While this list focuses on the East Coast, there are a few notable hard rock shows that are worth the trip for any fans willing to travel.

Over in Ohio, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Cincinnati has a diverse run of shows taking the stage. Up first on Sept. 12 is acerbic comedian Lewis Black at the Hard Rock Event Center, and then he'll head to the Choctaw Casino in October. The weekend of Sept. 18 and 19 shifts into an '80s mood with the Yacht Rock Revue on Friday and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Air Supply on Saturday.

Those on the West Coast are in for a treat as another Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has two shows at the Hard Rock. Earth, Wind & Fire will play at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Sacramento on Sept. 15 and 16, performing classics like After the Love Has Gone and September.

Taking a trip to the Great White North, one of the top tribute acts in the business heads to Hard Rock Ottawa, Canada. The Australian Pink Floyd Show will rock out Hard Rock Live on Sept. 18. Founded in 1988, the group has resonated with fans for nearly four decades now with its letter-perfect recreation of the legendary band's stage show and performance style.
