Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati is a popular city centre casino with a lively atmosphere, 24/7 gaming and easy access. The large casino floor offers a good range of slots and table games, and there’s a top range of restaurants and live music too. However, Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati doesn’t have an onsite hotel, making it quite unusual for a Hard Rock property.
That makes this casino more of a fun day/night out rather than a destination resort. Saying that, its downtown location means there are plenty of accommodation options close by. And what it lacks in hotel space, it more than makes up for in gaming, dining and entertainment.
Originally opened in 2013 as Horseshoe Cincinnati, the venue was renamed to Jack Cincinnati Casino in 2016 and was bought out by Hard Rock in Spring of 2020. So, I went to Ohio to take a look at what to expect from this busy casino.
Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati is located at 1000 Broadway Street, downtown Cincinnati. It attracts a mix of local gamblers, nightlife visitors, and organised groups, and is highly accessible due to its central location, free parking, and easy entry.
By car, the casino is easily accessible via major highways like I-71, I-75, and I-74, making it a convenient drive from other Ohio locations as well as those in Kentucky and Indiana too. Cities such as Columbus, Indianapolis, Louisville, and Dayton all have direct routes leading into downtown Cincinnati with less than a 2 hour drive.
Once on site, drivers can access free parking in the multi-storey parking garage, valet parking and there’s multiple entrances into the casino on the 23 acre site.
The convenient city location also makes Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati easy to reach by foot and on public transport. It’s just a short walk from tram stops (Hanke Exchange area) and easily reachable by rideshare/taxi.
The Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati gaming floor is around 100,000 square feet. To put that into context, it's on par with the likes of the Venetian, Cosmopolitan and Park MGM in Las Vegas. It’s still not the biggest casino floor in Ohio though, which can be found at Hollywood Casino Columbus.
Players will find a huge variety of slots, live dealer games, electronic table games and live poker tables too. In true Hard Rock style, the casino is fresh and modern with a plethora of music memorabilia scattered throughout the property. The high ceilings, red patterned carpets, gold lighting and bluey/purpley undertones make for a striking interior that feels contemporary.
Among the memorabilia you will find cars, costumes, props, guitars and accessories from icons such as Aerosmith, KISS, Lady Gaga and Elton John. Surrounding the casino you’ll find the usual Rock Shop with Hard Rock merchandise. And outside of the casino you won’t be surprised to know there’s the familiar Hard Rock Guitar signage.
When I first walked in, I was impressed both with the size and style of the casino. I know Hard Rock properties usually come with certain standards, but in my experience, they can vary quite a lot in quality. Overall, it’s not as spectacular as other Hard Rock resorts such as Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood in Florida, but it was nice enough to spend a few hours there, no question.
With around 100 live dealer games in this casino, you’re not short of options. Walking around I saw lots of blackjack and roulette tables but also a good number of craps, baccarat and different poker pit variations too.
Most of the table games are situated in the centre of the casino just next to the imposing Hard Rock Center bar which you can’t miss. On the day I visited the lowest minimum was $10 blackjack, with other tables at $15 and $25 minimum.
If you like your bet levels a bit higher, then you can head to the High Limit Room where tables start from $50 minimum all the way to $10,000. I had a look in, and it was a superior room in terms of decor and table quality but it was definitely a bit too rich for my bet level.
The main table game area was lively, even though I didn’t visit at a busy time. There was a good upbeat atmosphere and plenty of chat coming from the dealers which is always nice to see and puts players at ease. The tables looked okay, if not immaculate, in terms of upkeep, but that just shows how popular they are. Here’s an idea of the table games on offer at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati:
If poker is your game, then the 30 table room at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati will be right up your street. At least 2 tournaments run every day with Live Texas Hold’em and Live Omaha available with minimum buys in from $100. Check the website for the full daily schedule. Hard Rock is also the host of the Cincinnati Poker Open and promotions such as Bad Beat Jackpots and Weekend High Hands.
Electronic table games are also available for those who prefer a quieter gaming experience with smaller bet levels.
The vast majority of the gaming floor at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati is taken up by slots, around 1,600 of them in fact. Which in itself is pretty impressive. I was pleased to see a good variety of games ranging from old-school three reel machines to the most up-to-date video slots. In among the mix of modern classics and newly released slots I found:
The actual layout of the casino is very typical in terms of a big center bar, central table games pit area and then slots covering sprawling in every other direction. But walking around it felt a little uneven, with some slot areas in loads of open space and some cluttered together in tight rows.
I have a thing about playing slots too close to other players, I hate that elbow-to-elbow feeling. Personally, I headed for the more spaced out areas but it's worth pointing out that it can get a bit cosy in some places.
If you’re into video poker then there’s a good selection on one side of the casino close to the retro classics such as Cleopatra and Triple Diamond. Plus, if you like your spins to be a bit more rock ‘n’ roll, then there's a high limit slots area with around 50 slots for bets of $5 upwards.
Looking at slot payouts for Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati, the Ohio Casino Control Commission published data for 2025 showing consistent payouts across the year running between 91.73% and 92.21% month by month. That should put players' minds at ease and assure them that the operation is fully regulated. It’s always good to have those kinds of details, especially when you’re on a bad streak.
The Hard Rock Sportsbook officially opened at 12:01am on January 1st 2023. That’s significant because it marked the landmark day that sports betting became legal in Ohio. Cincinnati Reds legend Pete Rose made the first bet, wagering $100 on the Reds to win the 2023 World Series. Unfortunately for Pete, the Texas Rangers won that year so it wasn’t a winning start.
The Sportsbook is located near the Guitar entrance of Hard Rock right beside the Hard Rock Cafe. With over 150 TV screens, 6 betting windows, 30 betting kiosks and a relaxing sports lounge, it's a great place to catch the game especially for Bengals and Reds fans with its downtown location.
You can bet on futures and live betting on all major sports events with betting windows available from 10am until midnight most days. It’s also handy to grab a bite to eat from the Hard Rock Cafe just next door.
All Hard Rock properties operate the global Unity Rewards Program for guests and visitors. The great news for players is that it runs across over 200 locations including Hard Rock casinos, hotels, Rock Shops and Cafes.
That means that you can pick up Unity points by gaming, dining, shopping or staying at a Hard Rock or Seminole property. There are four levels to the program - Star, Legend, Icon and X and the more points you earn the higher tier level you’ll reach.
Unity points also let you claim rewards such as discounted stays, exclusive events, priority service, complimentary gifts and free dining. 100 Unity Points equates to $1 in value which can also be used for free play on the slots too.
Anyone over 21 can become a Unity member, just fill in the application form and present some photographic ID at the Unity desk on property. You can complete it online too. Once you’re a member, use or present your card whenever you spend money, particularly in the slot machines and at the tables. Points can add up quickly especially if you’re a regular player so it’s definitely worth doing.
There is no on site hotel at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati, however its downtown location means there’s plenty of nearby hotels. On the website, there’s a list of partnership hotels which includes:
There’s a small but varied choice of dining options at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati offering both casual and high end menus.
| Restaurant | Type of Cuisine | General Price |
|---|---|---|
| Hard Rock Cafe | Classic Hard Rock menu and cocktails with VIP balcony and covered patio | $$ |
| Council Oaks Steak & Seafood | High end dining in an elegant setting with steak and seafood specialities. | $$$ |
| Brick’d Pizza | Authentic brick-oven pizzas served alongside the revolutionary BP Wedge - a cross between a pizza and a sandwich - not to be missed! | $$ |
| YouYu | Asian Street Food with a difference - a great late night dining spot | $ |
| Constant Grind | Home made pastries and Lavazza coffee | $ |
Unfortunately there isn’t a pool or spa available at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati, however, local hotels such as Springhill Suites by Cincinnati Marriott Downtown and Voco The Clair Cincinnati Downtown both offer a pool and fitness center.
The Event Center at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati is made up of both indoor and outdoor space and hosts regular concerts and events. After all, it's what Hard Rock is known for! Recent artists include The Four Tops and Temptations, Air Supply, Impractical Jokers, Starship and Ja Rule. The outdoor lawn area also hosts regular concerts in a more intimate setting where guests can enjoy a city view while they dance the night away.
The Hard Rock Cafe is also a hub of entertainment, hosting live music acts every weekend from 10pm. My tip is to get in early though because seating is first-come first-served basis and it can get busy.
Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati is a high energy, dynamic casino situated in the heart of downtown Cincinnati. It’s a party place, and visitors can enjoy regular live entertainment, cool music and movie memorabilia, frequent promotions and a good choice of dining.
The fact it doesn’t have its own hotel does put it at a disadvantage though in my opinion. There’s plenty of nearby hotels, but nothing quite beats that feeling of staying on site for me personally. But, when it comes to gaming and atmosphere, it’s got everything you would want. 1,600 slots, 100 table games, sportsbook, loads of variety and friendly dealers too. I had a great time there and would definitely go back.
