LAS VEGAS — Sin City gives guests countless ways to let loose, including plenty of adult-themed shows for visitors who want entertainment at a level they might not be able to see anywhere else in the country.
Male revues are a staple of many Vegas trips over the years, featuring a combination of choreographed dance routines and strip acts that take the performers down to almost nothing.
They are a show and a party in the same room. Guests often go to celebrate life events like bachelorette parties, divorces, milestone birthdays, or other special occasions. Couples also visit for a different kind of date night.
Regardless of the show, guests enjoy the 90 minutes of high-energy performances, interactive fun, and some of the “only in Vegas” memories many people hope for.
The most popular Las Vegas male revues are in three different casinos in three different parts of the Strip.
Chippendales is located center-Strip at Planet Hollywood. It’s across the street from the The Cosmopolitan and next to Paris, which connects to Horseshoe.
Magic Mike is at Sahara on the north end of the Strip. It’s closest to Fontainebleau, Resorts World, The Venetian, and Wynn.
Thunder From Down Under at Excalibur is in the southern end of the Strip. It’s near Mandalay Bay, Luxor and MGM Grand.
The three shows are similar but have their own personalities. Chippendales remains the classic male revue and the most well-known. On the other hand, Thunder From Down Under has a loose structure and Magic Mike plays more like a stage show with a storyline.
Chippendales is the most famous male revue in the world, with a 45-year history. The show began in 1979 and arrived in Las Vegas in 2002 at Rio before moving to the Strip in 2024.
The show is updated often, but the Planet Hollywood version stays true to the classic one at Rio. This remains the one male revue where the stage is in front of the guests, not in the round.
Guests can expect the traditional Chippendales look of a bowtie, cuffs, and not much else. The show is interactive and often brings audience members on stage, making way for some unforgettable Vegas memories.
For some, the show goes even further than anticipated. For first-time attendees, the show can be known for some surprises.
After the show, the Flirt Lounge gives guests a chance to meet the dancers, take photos, and buy souvenirs.
Chippendales performs Tuesday through Sunday at 8 p.m. inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. There is an additional 10 p.m. show on Friday and Saturday. Tickets start at $59 and vary based on seating and VIP options.
Magic Mike Live at Sahara is a male revue based on the hit movie franchise of the same name. While the actors from the film are not in the show, there have been celebrity appearances, including Channing Tatum.
Guests love the show because it feels like a performance packed with dance, acrobatics, humor, and a loose plotline. The production is more polished than other male revues.
They also appreciate that the show doesn’t give off seedy strip club vibes that can be found in other parts of Vegas nightlife.
Magic Mike takes place in a 360-degree theater designed so performers can move around, above, and through the audience. The setup makes the show more interactive and allows guests to participate without leaving their seats.
The stage design includes surrounding tables, lounge-style seating, and balcony seats that still keep guests close to the action.
Magic Mike typically runs Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 p.m., with additional shows at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There can also be extra shows during the holidays.
There are four ticket levels with variable pricing based on the day and time. Tickets often range from $65 to $100, and stageside seats are closer to $200 per person.
Thunder From Down Under has been performing seven days a week at Excalibur since 2001. The all-Australian cast has toured worldwide, but Las Vegas remains its home base.
This show really helped define what people think of when they picture a classic Vegas male revue.
Thunder From Down Under delivers everything guests expect from a Vegas male revue: high energy, slick choreography, and crowd interaction. The show in the round sets it apart by turning up the intimacy compared to the others.
The performers are constantly in the crowd, dancing on laps, tables, and anywhere else they can find. The cast’s cheeky humor and accents might even inspire guests to change the voice settings on their phone and home speakers to Australian.
Shows come and go in Las Vegas, but there is a reason Thunder From Down Under has stayed in the same location for more than 20 years. Guests have loved it and still continue to do so.
Thunder From Down Under performs nightly at 8 p.m. with an additional 10 p.m. show on Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets start at $42.69 and reach about $100 in the front row. MGM Rewards or affiliate discounts may be available.
The right Las Vegas male revue is really about the people attending the show. There’s no right or wrong choice, each show delivers a different flavor of the same night of Vegas debauchery.
It’s a matter of whether the group going to the show wants Vegas tradition, a polished theater-like experience, or full-throttle fun.
Guests should choose Chippendales if they want the iconic Vegas experience. Magic Mike is best for those looking for a smoother, story-driven performance somewhat like the movie it’s named after. Lastly, Thunder From Down Under should be the choice for those looking for the loudest crowd and the closest interaction.
