St. Patrick’s Day in Las Vegas takes a typical day in Sin City up another notch. Bagpipers, green beer, outdoor festivals, and packed Irish pubs take over the Strip and Fremont Street.
There are only a few Irish pubs inside casinos, but there are even more scattered throughout the city. While Las Vegas might be known for casinos that put their own spin on another place or city, these bars take authenticity seriously. Guests will even find parts of the pubs imported directly from Ireland, along with classic dive-style bars found across the country.
If you're looking to celebrate St. Patrick's Day while you're in Vegas, you're luckier than most. There are plenty of places to make the most of the holiday, just make sure you're wearing green!
There are a few St. Patrick’s Day events on the Strip. As you might imagine, most center around Irish pubs inside the casinos.
New York-New York transforms into the hub of activity on the Strip with the St. Patrick’s Day Festival. Nightly festivities begin at 5 p.m. from March 14-17 at the Brooklyn Bridge outside the casino, where guests will see bagpipe performances, live music, and more entertainment.
Inside the casino, Nine Fine Irishmen will serve up some traditional Irish favorites.
New this year is a collaboration with Village Street Eateries, which will host its first Spring Block Party from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on March 14. The free event is open to all ages and features carnival games, face painting, and circus acts .
Local celebrities will help kick off festivities on March 14 at noon during the St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event. Guests will see cast members from Chippendales, Magic Mike, and Fantasy shave their heads to raise money for childhood cancer research.
PaddyFest returns to Ri Ra Irish Pub at Mandalay Place, located between Mandalay Bay and Luxor. Festivities begin on Tuesday, March 10, and build up toward the main event, St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, March 17.
Guests can enjoy free music nightly at 8 p.m. from March 10-13.
The party ramps up over the weekend with morning rugby, soccer matches, and live music from 5 p.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
On March 17, the celebration will feature live music beginning at noon, along with Irish dancers and bagpipers performing throughout the day.
The LINQ has one advantage over other Strip locations for a St. Patrick’s Day party. Between the casino and the shopping promenade, the center-Strip location is always busy, making for a lively celebration.
Holiday activations begin on March 15 and culminate on St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.
Guests will notice the promenade decked out in green, including lights around the High Roller observation wheel at night. On St. Patrick’s Day, entertainment will fill the promenade, including bagpipers from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Restaurants and bars will have carts outside serving traditional Irish food and drinks, but guests can also head inside O’Shea’s for green beer and gambling.
There will also be themed ice carving by ICEBAR sculptors on the Fountain Stage starting at noon. ICEBAR will also offer $5 frozen daiquiris, beers, and shots all day.
The Fremont Street Experience is always a party, and that energy ramps up even more for St. Patrick’s Day.
The Fremont Street Experience hosts a free three-day outdoor event that begins Saturday, March 15, and peaks on Monday, March 17. Expect free live music, a dance and costume contest, prizes, and more throughout the weekend.
The party begins at noon with a Celtic DJ performing on all three stages at the Fremont Street Experience, and free live music will continue until 2 a.m. each night.
At noon on St. Patrick’s Day, uniformed firefighters from Las Vegas and across the country will join bagpipers for a mini-parade down Fremont Street from the 3rd Street Stage next to The D to the Plaza.
Throughout the day, the “Half Court Hotties” will dance, sing, and perform aerial routines.
Later that evening, the Jig and Costume Contest begins at 8 p.m. at the 3rd Street Stage. The three-round costume-and-dance competition will award cash prizes up to $3,170 for the winner.
Casinos including Circa, Plaza, Golden Gate and The D will also join the celebration with holiday-inspired dishes and, of course, green beer.
Las Vegas is famous for many things, but Irish pubs aren't usually among them. However, you’ll still find a few excellent options tucked inside or near casinos. In the worst case, you’ll just have to cross the street from an off-Strip casino to reach my personal favorite Irish pub in Las Vegas.
Nine Fine Irishmen at New York-New York is one of the most popular Irish pubs on the Strip. It has a Victorian-style bar and an outdoor patio that was expanded last year. It’s my favorite on the Strip thanks to the location, and Stripside views it offers.
Ri Ra at Mandalay Bay is another genuine Irish pub featuring authentic elements imported directly from Ireland. Many people miss this spot because it’s located in Mandalay Place, which requires an escalator ride just off the casino floor. There’s live music, good burgers, and an authenticity you might not expect from a pub inside a casino mall.
O’Shea’s at The LINQ sits inside the casino with an entrance from the LINQ Promenade. This loud Irish-themed bar features gambling, beer pong, and live music. It’s a fun stop for anyone who enjoys small, energetic casinos.
Hennessey’s is located on the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas. It’s not fancy and has a dive-bar feel, but it serves great burgers and has a lively party atmosphere.
McMullan’s Irish Pub near The Orleans is a true traditional pub with excellent food and one of the largest whiskey menus in Las Vegas. This is about as authentic as Irish pubs get in Las Vegas, and it’s my personal favorite. Fair prices and a massive whiskey menu go a long way. Happy hour runs daily from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Marc was born and raised in New York City. He now resides in Las Vegas, where he’s been covering casinos and gaming for more than a decade. The gaming floor is the epicenter of Las Vegas casinos but so many great Las Vegas memories happen at bars, restaurants and other attractions. Finding the right combination goes a long way to a fun Las Vegas experience.Marc has been gambling since elementary school when he learned about sports betting and playing poker. Visiting casinos started a quest for knowledge from finding the best gaming odds and rewards to get the best bang for the buck on every visit.
