St. Patrick’s Day is the unofficial national holiday of having a good time. Across the US, over 149 million Americans plan to celebrate on March 17 each year, spending billions on food, drinks and green-tinted everything. And if you’re the kind of person who likes their pint of Guinness with a side of slots, you’re not alone.
But here’s the thing: not all casinos go equally green for the occasion. Some lean hard into Irish heritage with authentic pubs, live Celtic music and themed events. Others barely acknowledge the day exists. So we wanted to find out which US casinos are most associated with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations – not based on marketing claims, but on what actual visitors are saying.
We dug into Tripadvisor reviews for 109 of the biggest casinos in the country and tracked mentions of 10 St. Patrick’s Day-related keywords. The result? A data-driven ranking of the best casinos to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day.
Rank | Casino | Location | Score | Shamrock Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | New York-New York Hotel & Casino | Las Vegas, NV | 20.82 | ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ |
2 | Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino | Las Vegas, NV | 11.73 | ☘️☘️☘️☘️ |
3 | Tropicana Atlantic City | Atlantic City, NJ | 11.14 | ☘️☘️☘️☘️ |
4 | Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino | Las Vegas, NV | 5.53 | ☘️☘️☘️ |
5 | Wind Creek Bethlehem | Bethlehem, PA | 5.46 | ☘️☘️☘️ |
6 | Mohegan Sun | Uncasville, CT | 4.58 | ☘️☘️☘️ |
7 | Station Casinos Green Valley Ranch | Henderson, NV | 4.10 | ☘️☘️ |
8 | The LINQ Hotel & Experience | Las Vegas, NV | 3.50 | ☘️☘️ |
9 | Pechanga Resort Casino | Temecula, CA | 3.48 | ☘️☘️ |
10 | Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs | Wilkes-Barre, PA | 2.81 | ☘️ |
The big score gap between #1 and the rest justifies NYNY sitting alone at five shamrocks, while the natural clustering in the data drives the rest of the tiers.
Score: 20.82 | 780 keyword mentions across 33,298 reviews

It’s not even close. New York-New York absolutely dominates this ranking, and the reason has a name: Nine Fine Irishmen. This authentic Irish pub, literally built in Ireland and shipped to Las Vegas, is the beating heart of St. Patrick’s Day on the Strip. Of the casino’s 780 keyword mentions, 684 are for ‘Irish’ alone, with another 43 for ‘Guinness’ and 22 for ‘St. Patrick’s Day’ directly.
Reviewers rave about the live music, the shepherd’s pie and the feeling of stepping into an actual Dublin pub without the transatlantic flight. If you want the most Irish casino experience in America, this is it.
"If you were not Irish when you walked in the door, you will be with a kick in your step doing a little Irish jig when you leave." says one Tripadvisor review.
Score: 11.73 | 167 keyword mentions across 10,498 reviews
Here’s one that needs a bit of context. Westgate’s second-place finish is driven overwhelmingly by the word ‘Celtic’ – 153 of its 167 mentions, to be exact. That’s not because the casino is decked out in shamrocks year-round. It’s because the Westgate is the long-time host of the North American Federation of Celtic Supporters Convention, a biennial gathering that brings over 2,000 Celtic FC fans to Vegas.

Reviewers consistently praise the hotel’s hospitality during the event, and the convention clearly leaves a massive footprint in the review data. It’s not a traditional St. Patrick’s Day play, but the Celtic connection is real and the atmosphere during convention week is apparently unmatched.
Score: 11.14 | 119 keyword mentions across 6,992 reviews
Atlantic City’s strongest showing comes from the Tropicana, where ‘Irish’ accounts for 110 of its 119 mentions. The Tropicana has long been known for its Irish-themed pub and restaurant offerings, and the surrounding boardwalk area leans into the celebration every March.
For East Coast players who don’t fancy a flight to Vegas, the Tropicana is arguably the best St. Patrick’s Day casino destination this side of the Mississippi.
One Tripadvisor reviewer summed up the Ri Rá Irish Pub inside the Trop simply: "great service, tasty food and is a good value! Super fast esp for the busy weekend."
Score: 5.53 | 151 keyword mentions across 24,659 reviews
Mandalay Bay doesn’t shout about St. Patrick’s Day as loudly as New York-New York, but the data tells a different story. With 151 keyword mentions across nearly 25,000 reviews, there’s a consistent buzz around the holiday here.
The bulk of mentions (133) come from ‘Irish’, suggesting a steady stream of reviewers noting Irish-themed dining, entertainment, or general St. Paddy’s Day energy at the resort. For a mega-resort, that kind of consistent association is impressive.
Score: 5.46 | 20 keyword mentions across 1,063 reviews
The biggest surprise in the top five. Wind Creek Bethlehem is a smaller regional casino in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, but it punches well above its weight here. Of its 20 keyword mentions, 19 are for ‘Irish’ – and that tracks.
Bethlehem has a deep Irish-American heritage, and Wind Creek clearly benefits from a local community that celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with real enthusiasm. Proof that you don’t need a Las Vegas postcode to throw a proper St. Paddy’s party.
As one Tripadvisor reviewer put it: "We ate at the Irish pub located in the casino, nice variety of selections and the food was quite good."
Score: 4.58 | 17 keyword mentions across 1,527 reviews
Connecticut’s flagship casino resort earns its place with 17 keyword mentions, led by 14 for ‘Irish.’ Mohegan Sun is known for hosting themed events and seasonal celebrations, and St. Patrick’s Day is no exception.

The resort’s size and variety of dining and nightlife options make it a natural fit for a day that’s essentially about eating well and drinking better.
Score: 4.10 | 19 keyword mentions across 2,737 reviews
Green Valley Ranch is a locals’ favourite in the Henderson suburb of Las Vegas, and its 19 keyword mentions (15 for ‘Irish’) suggest it’s a go-to for residents who want to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day without fighting the Strip crowds. If you’re after a more laid-back Irish celebration with fewer tourists and shorter queues at the bar, this is the spot for you.
Score: 3.50 | 74 keyword mentions across 19,729 reviews
The LINQ’s position in the heart of the Strip, right next to the High Roller and the LINQ Promenade, makes it a natural gathering point for St. Patrick’s Day revellers.
With 74 keyword mentions across nearly 20,000 reviews, including 60 for ‘Irish’ and seven for ‘St. Patrick’s Day’ specifically, the data confirms what anyone who’s walked the Promenade on March 17 already knows: it gets very green, very fast.
About St. Patrick's Day parade on the Promenade, one reviewer said: "The parade was complete with pipers, dancers and leprechauns... the crowd fell in behind and continued the party down the promenade which concluded at O'Shea's pub. Green beer and Guinness was had by all."
Score: 3.48 | 8 keyword mentions across 923 reviews
Southern California’s Pechanga Resort rounds out the top nine with a modest but notable eight keyword mentions. For a casino in wine country that’s better known for golf and spa weekends than shamrock shakes, that’s a respectable showing.
It suggests the resort makes at least some effort to mark the occasion, and that’s more than many of the bigger names on the Strip can say.
Score: 2.81 | 5 keyword mentions across 1,190 reviews
Pennsylvania’s second entry in the top 10 rounds out the list. Wilkes-Barre sits in the heart of northeastern Pennsylvania’s coal country, an area with strong Irish-American roots dating back to the 19th century.
Five keyword mentions might sound small, but for a regional casino with just over 1,000 reviews, the Bayesian adjustment confirms it’s punching above the average.
Encore Boston Harbor (No. 11) slots in just outside the top 10 – and given Boston’s massive Irish-American population, that feels about right. Luxor Hotel & Casino (No. 12) is a Strip stalwart with 171 total mentions, but its massive 64,975 review count dilutes the rate. Mystic Lake Casino Hotel (No. 13) in Minnesota and Grand Casino Hinckley (No. 14) both appear here as solid regional picks.
Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood (No. 15) gives Florida its first representative. Potawatomi Hotel & Casino (No. 16) in Milwaukee, The STRAT (No. 17), Resorts Casino Hotel (No. 18) in Atlantic City, Little River Casino Resort (No. 19) in Michigan, and Mohegan Sun Pocono (No. 20) complete the top 20. The spread here tells its own story: St. Patrick’s Day casino culture isn’t exclusive to Vegas or Atlantic City. It’s a nationwide affair.
If you’re scanning this list and wondering where the Bellagio, Wynn, or Caesars Palace ended up – it’s not in the top half. The data is clear: the most famous luxury resorts in the country are known for opulence, not leprechauns.
That’s not a knock on them. It just means that when it comes to the St. Patrick’s Day atmosphere, the resorts with dedicated Irish pubs, Celtic events, or strong local Irish-American communities run rings around the big-name glitz.
We analyzed Tripadvisor reviews for 109 of the biggest casinos in the US, searching for 10 keywords tied to St. Patrick’s Day: ‘St. Patrick’s Day,’ ‘St. Paddy’s Day,’ ‘Patty's Day,’ ‘Irish,’ ‘Ireland,’ ‘Shamrock,’ ‘Leprechaun,’ ‘Guinness,’ ‘Lucky Charm,’ and ‘Celtic.’
Simply counting keyword mentions would have been misleading. A small casino with 200 reviews and three mentions would look better than a mega-resort with 30,000 reviews and 150 mentions – even though the larger casino has 50 times more evidence of St. Patrick’s Day atmosphere.
To fix that, we used a Bayesian adjustment: a statistical technique that blends each casino’s own data with the overall average across the dataset, weighted by how many reviews it has.
The result is a score we call ‘St. Patrick’s Day mentions per 1,000 reviews.’ The higher the score, the more reviewers associate that casino with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Casinos needed at least one keyword mention to qualify.
Of the 109 casinos analyzed, 70 qualified and 38 had zero mentions. MGM Grand Las Vegas was excluded due to a Tripadvisor page restructure that made its data non-comparable.
When it comes to St. Patrick’s Day at a US casino, New York-New York is in a league of its own. Nine Fine Irishmen has turned a single Strip casino into the most Irish-associated gambling destination in the country, and the data backs it up overwhelmingly.
Beyond the top spot, the ranking reveals that Irish-American heritage, dedicated pubs, and community events matter far more than brand prestige or resort size. Wind Creek Bethlehem, Mohegan Sun, and the Pocono Downs all prove that smaller casinos in regions with deep Irish roots can outperform the mega-resorts on the Strip.
So wherever you’re celebrating this March 17, raise a glass and maybe check if your nearest casino has an Irish pub. The data says it makes all the difference.
