LAS VEGAS -- MGM Resorts is taking its “Live From Vegas” campaign to the next level with a version of Family Feud livestreamed from the MGM Grand's casino floor. Done in partnership with Playtech, the new offering marks the first time the iconic game show has been adapted as a live gambling experience where players outside of Las Vegas can wager real money on their answers. It also shows MGM's latest efforts to bring the gambling experience of a Vegas Strip casino to players around the world through online gambling.
Instead of guessing what the "survey says" like in the TV show, players are betting money on their answers.
While Las Vegas may be currently struggling to attract international visitors, this game provides MGM another avenue to connect with this global player base.
The game is broadcast online from a transparent glass studio set up at a prime location at the MGM Grand, allowing visitors on the casino floor to watch the broadcast in real time. Like other titles in the “Live from Vegas” lineup, Family Feud is restricted to international online gambling markets. Players in the U.K, Mexico, and Canada can access the game through regulated platforms like BetMGM Casino, but the game is not yet available on the BetMGM app in the United States.
The traditional game show format of Family Feud has been tweaked to fit the casino game setup, and players are already diving into the details of game features and how it works. The game has a 54-segment wheel with five different instant win segments and includes features like bonus survey rounds and multipliers. Players will place their bets on any number 1-5 on the wheel or on one of special round segments in hopes that the wheel will stop where they have chosen.
The survey questions are mainly featured in the bonus rounds, called "Survey Says," where the multiplier of a player's bet depends on what people answered.
The Family Feud casino studio game and show builds on the success of a campaign launched in June 2024 at MGM Grand and Bellagio, where the Las Vegas casinos livestreamed versions of blackjack, roulette, and baccarat to players worldwide. Caesar’s Palace also jumped on the livestreaming casino train back in January with the addition of a studio with live dealer games at several casinos in Pennsylvania.
“We’re proud to unveil our full suite of live-streamed experiences from Las Vegas, now featuring Family Feud,” Playtech CEO Mor Weizer said. “This next phase of our collaboration with MGM Resorts and Fremantle represents our shared ambition to redefine live gaming entertainment.”
MGM Resorts Vice President of Online Gaming Vik Shrestha told the Las Vegas Review Journal that the live game studio at MGM Grand now reaches 10 international markets, including the U.K., Mexico and Canada. Adding Family Feud highlights MGM’s and Playtech’s commitment to innovation in live gambling by giving interactional access to a well-loved TV show in the heart of the casino.
The Family Feud launch reflects MGM’s intent to create gambling revenue by merging recognizable entertainment with gaming, whether it's in person or live-streamed. Livestream studios inside casinos not only attract curiosity from within the casino floor but also allow for access to content for international players. By choosing a beloved game show like Family Feud, MGM and Playtech are relying on familiarity and the interactive nature of the game show to draw new demographics into online gambling.
