Carín León’s Vegas Sphere Show Postponed Just Hours Before Performance

Carín León postponed his Thursday night concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas just hours before he was supposed to perform to thousands of fans, many of whom were already at the venue for a show that wouldn’t happen.

The Mexican music superstar announced the postponement on his social media on Thursday, Sept. 10, the night of the concert. Sphere confirmed this as well, saying that an unexpected issue came up during León's transportation to the venue, and the priority was the safety of León and his team. Sphere confirmed that fans would be able to receive refunds or use the tickets for a show at Sphere next year on Sept. 15, 2027.

His Las Vegas engagement is historic as he is the first Latino artist to perform and headline at the Sphere. 

Show Postponed as Fans Waited Inside Sphere

León posted a statement about the Thursday night show to his Instagram story as many fans were already at the venue.

Sphere also posted on Instagram to officially notify people of the postponed show. The venue initially posted that tickets would be valid for a performance on Sept. 15, 2026, but later removed the post and replaced it with an accurate update directing fans to the artist's 2027 Sphere dates.

“Due to an unexpected transportation issue, tonight's CARÍN show at Sphere is postponed,” a post from Sphere wrote. “Tickets remain available for September 15, 2027. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase by October 10, 2026. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Neither León nor Sphere has provided additional details about the transportation issue. The concert was scheduled for 8 p.m., and the postponement was confirmed around 9 p.m., leaving fans who'd already arrived to the venue with no performance to see that night.

Photos and posts from fans already at Sphere circulated on social media, with many having traveled across Las Vegas or from out of state specifically for the show. Social media reaction to this was mixed; some fans were understanding of the singer’s reasons, while others criticized the late notice for the cancellation. 

León's Sphere residency has included official travel packages through a third-party partner, including two-night stays at The Venetian paired with concert tickets; one package for two guests was priced around $1,378, while another with floor-level tickets ran $1,950 for two people. For fans who had a hotel stay or full Vegas visit around this specific show, the late notice is likely especially frustrating.

At this point, there is also no indication that the “Carin León Takes Over Fontainebleau” events have been affected by this, according to the social channels. The Fontainebleau programming includes food, nightlife, and other activations tied to León's Las Vegas residency.

Postponement Ironically Comes as León Announces Shows for 2027

The timing of the postponement is a bit ironic, given that León just revealed three new dates at Sphere for Sept. 2027 earlier today.

The singer will bring a new three-date engagement to the venue on Sept. 16, 17, and 18, 2027, extending his relationship with the venue into a second year. The announcement came before the completion of his current Sphere residency, which already sold out.

The Latin star has also dealt with a handful of other show changes this year. In January, he postponed two performances in Mexico after being diagnosed with dengue fever and was advised to rest and recover.  His May 24 concert at San Antonio's Frost Bank Center was also postponed after the San Antonio Spurs needed to use the venue for an NBA Western Conference Finals game.  A separate Tulsa performance originally scheduled for May 29 was also rescheduled to July 14. 

As of right now, there is no indication that today's show being canceled affects the rest of his 2026 dates at the Sphere. León is still scheduled to perform on Sept. 11, 12, and 13, to close out the residency during Mexican Independence Day weekend. But fans affected by Thursday’s sudden change will now have to decide whether to seek a refund or return to Vegas to see León at the Sphere next year.
