Carín León is about to make history as the first headlining Latino artist at the Sphere in Las Vegas, and Fontainebleau is making sure that fans recognize his presence even if they're not attending the show.

Starting September 1, the Fontainebleau is hosting "Carín León Takes Over Fontainebleau," a two-week property takeover that runs until Sept. 14. The event will overlap with both his Sphere residency and all of the Mexican Independence Day celebrations in Vegas.

León is one of the biggest names in regional Mexican music right now, with 6 million Instagram followers and over 28.5 million monthly Spotify listeners. Many even call him the “global ambassador of Mexican music.” His music that blends traditional banda and norteño music from northern Mexico.

The Sphere residency will follow other recent milestones for León. He performed at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry and broke a record for Hispanic artists at Rodeo Houston, bringing 70,000 people to attend his performance. His hits such as "QUE VUELVAS" and "Primera Cita" are all approaching a billion streams on Spotify. These Sphere shows will be the biggest and most technologically advanced stage of his career.

León Brings a Taste of Hermosillo to the Strip

The takeover will feature pop-ups at various spots in the casino, giving fans a chance to grab exclusive Carín León merch. The experience is centered on his hometown of Hermosillo, Sonora, in northwest Mexico.

From Sept. 1 through 14, photo activations will be set up throughout the resort to help fans commemorate the occasion. According to a media release, the main photo op will be a glamorous desert-themed photo with a Vegas backdrop.

Starting Sept. 3, León's El Coyote del Norte taquería will have a pop-up at Roadside Taco on the Promenade Food Hall until September 14. Fans can pick up a custom "Diario de Hermosillo" newspaper at the property, featuring imagery from his hometown and his music.

The takeover will also feature a special smoothie from Cymbiotika Wellness Bar, created by Carín León and his team. From Sept. 3 to 14, fans can grab the Carín Power smoothie, featuring banana, strawberries, peanut butter, whey protein, almond milk, honey, and cinnamon.

On the nightlife side, LIV Nightclub will host "Noches by Carín León" parties featuring Mexican music each evening from September 11 through 13 for Mexican Independence Day weekend, with special Latin artists possibly appearing. LIV Beach will also host a similar event, "La Cura Fest," on Sunday, Sept. 13, a dayclub party celebrating Mexican culture featuring a lineup of Hispanic artists, yet to be announced.

For those who can't attend the exclusive events but still want merchandise, exclusive items, including premium T-shirts, hoodies, caps, and accessories, will be sold at FB Express near the hotel lobby, and at Morris & Co. on the second floor near Café Cuto, through September 14 only.

First Latino Artist To Headline Sphere

León's residency at the Sphere will span several dates next month. The first dates are Sept. 4 through 6 for Labor Day weekend, and then things pick back up Sept. 10 through 13 for Mexican Independence Day weekend, for a total of seven nights at one of the world's most technologically advanced venues.

The residency will also be the first Spanish-language residency at the Sphere. It was originally set for only three dates, but due to overwhelming ticket demand, more dates were added. The Sphere's 360-degree LED interior and immersive sound will make it a treat for the lucky fans who attend, and it wouldn't be surprising if León features visuals of Hermosillo to show off his hometown pride.

His residency in Vegas may make this Mexican Independence Day weekend bigger than ever. With two holiday weekends in Vegas back-to-back, the city will most certainly get a nice economic kickback from all the business. Tickets for León's Sphere shows are still available online.
