Las Vegas Heats Up in March With Concerts, Sphere News, and Pool Reopenings

LAS VEGAS – March is often one of the busiest and most enjoyable months on the Las Vegas calendar. While February ended with record high temperatures, March should be perfect during the day, with highs in the upper 60s and 70s. 

There are a few ways to enjoy the beautiful weather. You can enjoy the start of pool season on and off the Strip, which coincides with spring break.  Gamblers should note that the gaming space at the Oasis pool deck at Fontainebleau will open on March 6.

The month is one of the most tourism-heavy stretches of the year with spring break, St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, and the start of March Madness all in one. March Madness alone brings in 3.5 million people to the city.

The month is packed with familiar artists returning for residencies and limited engagements, including the annual 311 Day. But it will not take place on March 11 this year, do not get twisted about the numeration. The band is booked for the weekend, when Vegas usually celebrates holidays, real or made-up.

Plenty of new concert engagements were just announced for anyone looking to make plans later this year. Sphere Las Vegas has once again extended two of its most popular limited engagements and confirmed that one of its long-rumored performers will launch a run later this year.

Residencies and Limited Engagements 

There is only one new limited engagement this month. Alice Cooper is teaming up with Criss Angel for “Welcome to Our Nightmare” at Planet Hollywood. The show combines theatrical rock ’n’ roll with illusions infused with cutting-edge technology.

Returning performers span classic and modern rock, pop, and EDM:

• Foreigner at The Venetian: March 6, 7, 11, 13, 14
• Illenium at the Sphere: March 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14
• Jennifer Lopez at Caesars Palace: March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28
• Alice Cooper & Criss Angel at Planet Hollywood: March 6, 7, 8
• 311 at Park MGM: March 7, 8
• Sammy Hagar at Park MGM: March 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21
• Boy George & Culture Club at The Venetian: March 18, 20, 21, 25, 28, 29
• John Fogerty at Planet Hollywood: March 18, 20, 21
• The Eagles at The Sphere: March 20, 21, 27, 28
• Barry Manilow at The Westgate: March 26, 27, 28

Lookahead: Bruno Mars returns to Las Vegas, but not for his Park MGM residency. He has two concerts at Allegiant Stadium on April 10 and 11.

Residency News

The long-rumored Metallica residency at the Sphere will take place on October 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, and 29, 31. Tickets are on sale starting March 6. Beyond the venue and amazing visuals, the performances will be unique to Las Vegas.

Sphere also extended the Eagles and Backstreet Boys residencies. The Eagles return April 10 and 11, despite rumors that the band may call it quits. Backstreet’s back (alright!) July 16-18, 23-25, 30-31, and Aug. 1, 6-8, 20-22.

Now that the Metallica rumor is confirmed for the Sphere, we can move on to another rock band. Tool drummer, Danny Carey, says the group is in talks with the Sphere about a residency. 

Electric Daisy Carnival announced its full lineup, with roughly 1 million fans expected at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from May 15-17.

Josh Groban will return to Caesars Palace for another limited engagement at the Colosseum on Oct. 2, 3, 7, 9, and 10.

Scorpions will return to Planet Hollywood for eight shows Sept. 17, 19, 23, 25, 27, 29, and Oct. 1 and 3.
