Palms Splashing Into Pool Season with Free Cabanas for Locals

LAS VEGAS — It’s still cold in Las Vegas, but casinos are still plotting deviously to offer the best pool experiences every summer. Palms Casino Resort is one of the first to make a splash by announcing it would reopen its pool on March 16. But even better, they’re bringing free cabanas for Nevada locals.

Palms offered this last year, and it's one of the few options for locals to visit a day club without having to spend a lot just for admission or having a place to sit. And the environment is still welcoming enough that tourists don't feel left out, since it's free for everyone.

Palms Makes Locals a Priority

The off-Strip resort has 39 cabanas and four bungalows. The complimentary cabana offer will be available seven days a week until April 30. Beginning May 1, the deal will only run Sunday through Friday. That’s understandable since Saturdays are often the busiest days of the week.

The only exception to the promotion is March 19–22 during the property’s Basketball Bonanza event, which coincides with March Madness. Standard cabana rentals will still be offered that weekend for anyone who wants to enjoy the hype while poolside.

“Palms Pool has always been about creating a pool experience that feels approachable, fun, and genuinely welcoming—especially for locals,” said Crystal Robinson-Wesley, VP of Marketing and Entertainment. “Launching the season with free cabanas seven days a week is our way of saying thank you to the local community.”

The deal is open to Nevada residents 21 and older. From personal experience, it’s not *completely* free. A deposit is typically required to reserve a cabana, but it is “refundable” by being applied toward food and beverage purchases. Last year, in my own experience, it was a $50 deposit that essentially covered some drinks and light bites while you’re there.

Even still, it’s not surprising they expect you to buy food or drink while at a casino resort’s pool. So if a $50 deposit is worth tripping over, maybe you should re-align your priorities before considering a pool day.

Admission has traditionally been free, and the returning cabana offer makes the experience even more appealing for locals looking for a relaxed, upscale pool day.

A Lowkey Alternative to the Vegas Dayclub

Each cabana accommodates approximately 10 to 15 guests and includes a private TV, a dedicated server, and drink specials. It’s absolutely comparable to a cabana you could get at any poolside dayclub without the booming DJs, expensive bottle service minimums, or steep cover charges.

While you have your cabana, it’s worth checking out the 21-and-over pool area if you want to avoid the crowds and screaming children that often come with family-friendly resort pools.

Since the San Manuel Gaming and Hospitality Authority purchased and reopened the property in 2024, Palms has been an affordable alternative to the Strip without feeling far removed. The property does a great job of welcoming locals, hotel guests, and general tourists by offering free parking, a free pool, and affordable prices at its dining outlets.

It’s also one of the only properties in Las Vegas still operating a full all-you-can-eat buffet. After a pool day, you can get a bite at Scotch 80’s happy hour, which is arguably one of the best in Las Vegas. And then you can end the night at Ghostbar, the rooftop lounge that’s a great outdoor bar in the city.

Full pool policies and reservation details are available on the Palms website.
