The Las Vegas comedy calendar for July is similar to the month's music lineup, but with a twist. There are plenty of new and familiar stand-up comedians taking the stage at the theaters inside of Vegas Strip casinos.
The popular British comedian Jimmy Carr has appeared in Las Vegas before, but his engagement this month at Wynn is his debut at the Encore Theater. Meanwhile, Martin Lawrence is back at Resorts World for the second consecutive year.
Some newer names to look out for are Gary Owen, who’s performing two nights at The Venetian, and Mo Amer, who’s performing at The Cosmopolitan for the first time. Owen has a diverse fanbase, while Amer has comedy specials and his own Netflix show.
There’s also something different for the comedy scene on the Vegas Strip this month. The Mrs. Doubtfire musical will be making its home at a Las Vegas casino for two weeks.
In addition to the bigger shows taking place in the theaters, there are a handful of smaller comedy clubs inside a handful of Las Vegas casinos.
If the calendar looks light, it's likely because the comedians are taking a break early in the month to celebrate America's 250th anniversary on July 4.
Lookahead: Sebastian Maniscalco returns to Wynn for four shows on Aug. 7 and 8. Joy Koy is on the move. His next Las Vegas show will be at Caesars Palace on Saturday, Sept. 19. Many of his previous Las Vegas appearances were at the Mystere Theater inside Treasure Island. Ron White is also returning to The Cosmopolitan on Oct. 23.
Most musical tours stop at the Smith Center in downtown Las Vegas. That changes this month when the Venetian welcomes the Mrs. Doubtfire musical from July 22 to Aug. 2.
The show is a musical comedy based on the 1993 film, where Robin Williams plays a divorced father who disguises himself as a female Scottish nanny to spend more time with his kids. The musical adaptation has been touring nationally and brings the comedy of the original film to a full stage production with original music.
For more affordable options, there are a few small comedy clubs inside or adjacent to Las Vegas casinos with multiple shows nightly. Tickets for these shows are among the lowest in Las Vegas entertainment.
