What to Expect From the Newly Renovated Green Valley Ranch Rooms

LAS VEGAS 一 Green Valley Ranch is the latest Las Vegas casino to update its hotel rooms. The Henderson property, about 20 minutes from the Strip, has completed the renovation of 199 rooms in the West Tower. The resort will open another 294 renovated rooms in the East Tower next year. It will also finish work on the South rotunda lobby, along with the meeting and convention spaces.

This is part of an ongoing $200 million property-wide upgrade. Last year Station Casinos said it would reinvest in its existing properties instead of building new casino resorts.

Green Valley Ranch is not the only off-Strip casino making improvements. Before the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Ellis Island finished a major upgrade of its casino floor. M Resort refreshed its casino floor this summer and recently opened a new hotel tower. Station’s Durango Casino just completed one upgrade and will start another expansion next year.

There was a time when off-strip casinos were considered a step down from the main tourist corridor of Las Vegas Blvd, but that's no longer the case.

Green Valley Ranch has always been positioned as a luxury property away from the bulk of tourists. Its large casino floor, strong sportsbook, full-service spa and upscale pool experience rival those on the Strip. The recent upgrades give the property the visual appeal to match those resorts.

“We’re proud to debut the West Tower’s newly re-imagined luxury rooms, which embody an elegant, modern expression of sophisticated luxury." said Ken Janssen, Green Valley Ranch Vice President and General Manager said. "As the West Tower opens for reservations, we look forward to welcoming guests to experience the transformed rooms firsthand.”

As I told Station Casinos, these rooms are much more my vibe than when I stayed at the property years ago. I love the look and might actually trek out to Hendertucky for a staycation, even though I am only a few steps away from Red Rock and Durango.

New Rooms, New Vibes

The redesigned rooms continue the modern shift away from the property’s original Mediterranean-inspired look. Guests may have already noticed the lighter and brighter direction with recent updates on the casino floor, including the newer high-limit slot room.

The renovation was a collaboration between Station Casinos’ in-house design teams and Avenue Interior to shape the new style.

The rooms now lean modern and contemporary European rather than the older, chunkier look. Each space features leather and caramel tweed upholstery, which replaces the darker furniture with lighter accents.

Other updates include stone surfaces, Calacatta marble and waterfall edges with custom hardware. The rooms now have 65-inch smart TVs, which are standard in most recently renovated hotel rooms.

Unlike most Las Vegas casino hotel rooms, there’s a Nespresso machine with coffee for guests to have coffee before hitting the slots and tables.

The LED vanity mirrors offer a spa-like glow that makes getting ready for a night out easier. Between the amenities and the lighter palette, guests should find a calmer, more relaxing environment.

The West Tower has 154 King and Queen rooms that measure 495 square feet. Another eight King rooms have patios. The tower also has 24 Executive rooms that measure 714 square feet, 10 of which include patios.

Booming Room Rates

Renovated rooms at Green Valley Ranch start at $264 per night. Executive Suites start at $389. Rates for patio rooms fall between the base and suite categories. According to the rate calendar, weekend rates for the rooms start at $344 for the next few months. All prices include the resort fee.

The new room rates are above those at most other Station Casinos and are on par with the company’s newest resort, Durango Casino.

Higher rates should not come as a surprise. Several casino executives said earlier this year that renovated rooms allow for premium pricing. For reference, rates for the recently upgraded Versailles Tower in Paris Las Vegas are generating 61 percent higher rates for Caesars.

Renovated rooms are a win for both sides. Guests prefer modern rooms, and operators want the additional revenue.

New GVR Poker Room Coming Soon

Green Valley Ranch closed its poker room in 2020 but will reopen before the end of the year. A Station Casinos representative told me an official announcement is coming soon.

Over the past five years, many players in the area have migrated to the South Point poker room, which usually has a waiting list.

Janssen said, “We took our guests’ feedback loud and clear and are pleased to announce the return of poker, among the many exciting upgrades happening at the property.”

The 16-table poker room will be open 24 hours a day and return to its original location. The space will feature all-new tables and chairs along with an upgraded audio and video setup.

The room will also feature all of the signature Station Casinos promotions, including the Jumbo Hold’em Bad Beat Jackpot, Station Casinos’ Freeroll and 24/7 High Hands. Games will include 1/2, 2/3, and 3/5 No Limit Hold’em, 4/8, 6/12, and 8/16 Limit Hold’em and Omaha games.
