Red Rock Resorts Reinvests Record Revenue Into Las Vegas Casinos

LAS VEGAS – While some Las Vegas casino operators are reporting mixed earnings in 2025, Red Rock Resorts, the parent company of Station Casinos, is breaking records. More importantly, the company is reinvesting revenue to update multiple of its existing casinos and to plan future developments.

Many Las Vegas Strip operators are holding steady or pausing upgrades, but off-Strip operators have been expanding and refreshing their properties over the past year. Station Casinos is taking the strategy further by upgrading its flagship properties and planning new projects.

Station Casinos’ main customers are local residents. The company says its mix of low-cost deals, like $3 beers, and upgrades, such as new high-limit slot and table game areas, is attracting visitors who once stayed on the Strip.

Durango North Expansion Already Underway

Station Casinos has not been shy about updating and expanding its casinos. Even before Durango Casino & Resort opened in southwest Las Vegas, the company was already planning an expansion.

The company broke ground on Durango’s second expansion in January. Construction is expected to take about 18 months, meaning the new country music venue, movie theaters, restaurants, and additional casino floor space could open next summer.

Last summer, the company said it was already in the planning phase for another Durango expansion. Station Casinos typically waits for one project to finish before officially announcing the next phase, so additional details are unlikely until the current construction is complete.

Don’t expect to hear more about the third phase until the current expansion is completed next year.

Green Valley Ranch Refresh Continues Into 2027

Along with Durango and Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino in Henderson is one of Station Casinos’ flagship properties. The multiyear refresh will now continue into next year.

Late last year, the casino debuted nearly 200 renovated hotel rooms in the West Tower and reopened its poker room. Renovated rooms in the East Tower are expected to open this year, but shared spaces for the towers have already been upgraded.

During a recent earnings call, company executives announced more upgrades. Some changes are already underway and will continue into 2027.

The next phase includes a refreshed casino floor, new quick-serve eateries such as Irv’s Burgers and Nielsen’s Frozen Custard in the food court, and upgraded movie theaters.

Red Rock Casino Adds New Dining Options

Similar to Green Valley Ranch, Red Rock Casino has been undergoing a gradual refresh with new high-limit rooms, bars, and restaurants. Work started in 2021 and is continuing into this summer.

The updated areas feature a brighter, more modern aesthetic compared with the darker original design. The difference is quite striking.

The company recently reopened Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar with a redesigned bar and lounge. Later this year, the food court will add Randy’s Donuts along with local favorites Good Pie and With Love, Always.

No additional updates have been announced, but the phased renovation could continue after the new dining options open.

Sunset Station Upgrades Continues to Evolve

Across the city in Henderson, changes at Sunset Station began last year with Stoney’s Country Bar, a new Mexican restaurant, a remodeled Gaudi Bar, and a fully renovated casino floor. Those improvements will continue throughout the year, with additional projects scheduled into 2027.

The movie theaters will be expanded and upgraded, similar to Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch. Like sportsbooks, movie theaters drives local traffic of those who often eat, drink, and gamble before and after a film.

During the earnings call, company representatives acknowledged that buffets historically acted as loss leaders rather than profit centers. As a result, Station Casinos has been removing buffets and replacing them with higher-margin restaurants and additional gaming space.

At Sunset Station, a bingo area currently occupies the former buffet space. The game will move to a new location later this year, and the space will be converted into a steakhouse and high-limit table games room.

Red Rock previously took a similar approach, replacing its buffet with three restaurants and a high-limit gaming room.
