The Nevada Gaming Control Board approved MGM Resorts' request to open a new, private gaming salon at Park MGM. The salon will house a turnkey video production studio that can be used as a private high-limit room and for public streaming.

MGM Resorts operates private gaming salons at AriaBellagioThe Cosmopolitan, and MGM Grand. For the time being, Park MGM will be the only property in Las Vegas with this kind of hybrid gaming salon.

Why MGM is Building a Streaming-Friendly Casino Space

In hearings with Nevada gaming regulators, Chandler Pohl, vice president and legal counsel for MGM Resorts International, said the new salon would serve multiple purposes because of Park MGM's location. The property is steps from T-Mobile Arena, and MGM would like to serve players looking to gamble privately before or after concerts or sporting events. Having a lower-limit private salon will give the casino the flexibility to open for guests who visit on a whim.

Pohl told the Nevada Gaming Commission:

"As a new innovation to Nevada's gaming industry, MGM Resorts' interactive team guided Park MGM in creating a turnkey video production suite that cohabits the space ... when it switches back and forth between a private salon and public space."

The rooms will also be used for content creators who want to record without bringing their own equipment. Pohl says recording gear can be clunky on the casino floor, get in the way of other guests, and slow down gameplay.

He also said players recording their gambling sessions to take home and share with friends and family would be similar to guests buying a picture after riding the Big Apple Roller Coaster at New York-New York.

How the Streaming Salon Will Work

The room will have baccarat, blackjack, and roulette tables. Park MGM can also add a slot machine or another game, such as Ultimate Texas Hold'em, upon request. Recording gambling sessions will be available for guests as needed. Whether they're playing or not, everyone in the room must sign a waiver to be recorded.

The company is also filing for a waiver to reduce the amount of money required to use a private gaming salon. This will allow players with bankrolls lower than those of traditional high-limit salons to participate.

Guests at Park MGM will be able to watch players and creators in person behind a velvet rope or a few steps to the side on a monitor.

Pohl alleged that MGM Interactive has a list of celebrities and influencers interested in recording their gambling sessions at Park MGM. He declined to name any individuals, but said there are already YouTube videos tagged "park mgm streaming lounge."

A YouTube search turned up no results, though there is confirmation of at least one content creator praising the room.

In a previous meeting with the Nevada gaming regulators, Pohl confirmed that there are no plans for a similar salon at other MGM properties, though he left open the possibility of expanding the concept to another Park MGM space or a different casino if it proves successful.

Unlike this model, the Plaza in downtown Las Vegas has a live streaming space open to the public in the non-smoking section that used to be the home of slots content creator Brian Christopher's branded slots, with no private salon component.
