Kansas’ four commercial casinos have reported $36.2 million in combined revenues last month, up 7% from year-on-year from $33.8 million earned in July 2024.
The figures, published by the Kansas Lottery, show that the sector also grew its revenue significantly month-on-month. The combined revenue for all four venues in July was 5.8% higher than the $34.2 million for June.
However, July’s return was down on the revenue figures for March, April, and May this year.
Three of the four venues showed a year-on-year increase in revenue, with the biggest percentage rise coming from Kansas Star Casino, which returned a 9% rise from $12.9 million in July 2024 to $14.1 million this year.

Boot Hill Casino’s operators will be hoping that a new property will boost their revenue performance over the next few years. Boot Hill Casino and Resort has officially broken ground on a new boutique hotel, which it says marks a major step forward for tourism and hospitality in Southwestern Kansas.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Tuesday near the casino property, drawing city officials, community leaders, and business representatives. According to the plans, the four-story hotel will include 102 guest rooms, a modern indoor pool, a fitness center, a meeting space, a business center, and a large breakfast area.
Additional features include a self-pour beer and beverage station and smart-technology amenities, which the hotel hopes will appeal to contemporary travelers. Its location next to Boot Hill Casino puts it within walking distance of the gaming floor, Firesides Restaurant, DraftKings Sportsbook, and the United Wireless Arena.
Chris Reedy, the Chief Executive Officer of Butler National Corporation, the parent company of the Boot Hill Casino operator, said the project represents continued investment in the region.
“This groundbreaking represents the start of a construction project and is a key milestone in our continued investment in Dodge City and the region’s growing tourism economy,” he said, speaking to the press at the ceremony.
Bill Cunningham, the owner of Best Western Dodge City, which will operate the hotel, echoed that sentiment, saying that his company was proud to partner with Boot Hill Casino on the venture. Local officials also praised the development's potential to generate jobs and strengthen Dodge City’s tourism infrastructure.
The hotel construction is expected to take about 15 to 16 months to complete, with an opening targeted for late 2026.

I grew up watching Celebrity Poker religiously and that turned into my organizing March Madness bracket tournaments all throughout elementary and high school—making every March a high-stakes competition among friends before I was even old enough to place a real bet.
