LAS VEGAS —Late last year, Caesars Entertainment announced it would take over operations of the sportsbook at Rampart Casino. A few days later, the property said it would rebrand this year as The Resort at Summerlin.
This week, the sportsbook inside The Resort at Summerlin officially reopened as a Caesars Sportsbook. Deryk Engelland of the Vegas Golden Knights and the company’s Caesar mascot were on hand for the celebration.
At first glance, the changes are subtle. Some regulars might not even notice the new video wall or the reconfigured space. As a local who enjoys this quiet respite, the differences from when the sportsbook opened just over a decade ago were more obvious.
If there’s one major change, it’s the removal of the wall separating the sportsbook from the non-smoking slot area. The former walkway remains non-smoking and now includes additional slot machines. That section feels slightly tighter, but the sportsbook itself feels more open and welcoming.
Some furniture was removed for the grand opening events, but once everything is in place, the space should feel similar to other Caesars and William Hill sportsbooks in Las Vegas.
A handful of horse racing carrels were removed to accommodate new seating, though there’s still ample space for bettors. Video poker machines have also been added to the bar behind the racebook area.
The bar behind the sportsbook will receive a new halo-style video board after March Madness, similar to the setup at Durango Casino & Resort.
As promised, new sports betting kiosks have been installed inside the sportsbook and scattered throughout the casino floor. The upgrades are modest but should enhance the overall guest experience.
The casino formerly known as Rampart is facing increased competition in Summerlin. In 2024, the nearby Suncoast Hotel and Casino debuted a striking new sportsbook. Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, a bit farther down the road, continues to refine its sportsbook with regular updates.
Before leaving, I checked out the rest of the renovated area and spotted two new restaurants preparing to open. Tacos 1986 is scheduled to open on Tuesday, March 17, followed by For The Win on Thursday, March 19.
It’s impressive to see how what was once a simple walkway between the casino floor and the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa has been transformed. Previously underused space is now active and functional, benefiting both the operator and guests.
