All the Sphere’s a Stage: Rush Coming to Las Vegas for Five-Date Residency

Rush is coming to the Sphere. A few years ago the prog-rock pioneers seemed lost to the annals of music history, bereft of their legendary drummer, who died in 2020. Now, the Canadian band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are letting the world know they’re not done yet – announcing last week a five-night residency on Las Vegas’s grandest stage.

Rush co-founders Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson said the residency, to be called the “Elevate From the Norm,” will take place on five nights next May 2027.

If previous band announcements are any indicator, there likely will be more shows added. But the first batch of tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 13, for concert dates on May 21, May 23, May 26, May 28 and May 30.

(The band is also offering VIP meet-and-greet and travel packages involving stays at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.)

‘Tailor-Made’ for Rush’s Visual Aesthetic

As they have done on their 2026 Fifty-Something Tour, the group will celebrate the band’s 50-year legacy and the life of their friend and former bandmate, the universally acclaimed drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.

For the Sphere shows, Rush will perform two of their most successful albums, 2112 (1976) and Moving Pictures (1981), with the outstanding German drummer Anika Nilles sitting in for the late Peart and Loren Gold taking some of the keyboard weight off of Lee’s shoulders. Once again, however, it is the unique atmosphere of Sphere that is bringing the rock masters to its stage.

“When I first heard of Sphere, I thought to myself, ‘wow, what a shame that Rush is no longer touring, because this venue sounds tailor-made for the kind of visual attitude with which we have always designed our shows,” Lee said during the residency announcement.

“Normally we spend months designing the visual effects for our shows and this scenario seemed like the cherry on top of the ice cream for our design team. But life is nothing if not surprising and now, here we are, living and touring in the present tense and we are able to make that particular dream come true.”

Rush in their heyday was highly renowned for their massive, state-of-the-art live visual productions. While they were primarily celebrated for their complex, virtuosic musicianship, their concerts evolved into multi-sensory experiences that seamlessly blended cutting-edge stage technology with eccentric humor.

“Playing all of 2112 and all of Moving Pictures along with an array of other songs (on the Sphere stage),” Lee said, “we are so effin’ excited to make use of this incredible opportunity to please our fans both visually and viscerally – from wherever they might fly in from.”

Reviving the Relationship Between Las Vegas and Canada?

Bringing one of Canada’s stalwarts to Las Vegas’ premier concert venue isn’t just about delivering an excellent show. It could also be about reviving the affections between two old friends – Canadian visitors and Las Vegas as a whole.

Over the past couple of years, Canadian travel to Las Vegas has dropped precipitously. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Canadian visitation, once one of the strongest foreign contingents to the city, fell by roughly 24% between January and November 2025. The two major airlines, Air Canada and WestJet, also reported that travel to the city had dropped significantly.

This led the LVCVA to launch a concentrated effort to counter the decline. In March, the organization struck up a three-year plan to rebuild the bridges to Canadian visitors. Circa Resort and Casino took this plan one step further, offering an “At Par” Promotion during the summer, where Canadian visitors could get Canadian dollar-for-U.S. dollar exact value at Circa, the D Las Vegas, and the Golden Gate Hotel through Aug. 31. The promotion brought in more than 120,000 Canadians, up 80% over the same period in 2025, according to Circa Resort and Casino owner Derek Stevens.

Special Packages for Rush Fanatics

Presale for the Vegas shows will be opened to those who register through Seated on Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. PT.

The special VIP and travel packages are arranged through Superfan. These offerings will present premium seating for the shows and other perks, including a “meet and greet” with Lee and Lifeson and collectible merchandise.

After the passing of Peart in 2020 from glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, Lee and Lifeson put the band Rush on hold, saying they could not continue without their longtime friend, drummer, and lyricist. In 2025, however, Lee and Lifeson decided to pay tribute to their deceased partner, bringing Nilles and Gold (who formerly played with Chicago) onto the team to fill out the band.

Over the past year, Rush has rekindled fans’ interest in the band, bringing about this next step with the residency at Sphere.

Rush always treated their music as a visual art form, and heavily integrated rear-screen projections, LED walls and intricate 3D animations. Their complex, choreographed laser light shows in the 1980s set new standards for what was possible at rock concerts.

It’s exciting to think what these revolutionaries of rock-and-roll spectacle will bring to the Sphere.

“Gonna be so much fun!” Lee said.
