April in Las Vegas is usually a transitional month from spring into summer. With March hitting record highs near 100 degrees, the upper 70s and 80s projected by AccuWeather may feel like a cooldown.
If temperatures stay near normal, visitors can enjoy early pool season, a round of golf, or dining and drinks on patios without worrying about heat exhaustion. A few outdoor music festivals are still possible before it gets too hot for daylong events.
The residency calendar is light, but news of performers returning for limited engagements is keeping fans excited. Movie buffs, actors, and industry professionals will gather in Las Vegas for CinemaCon from April 13-16 at Caesars Palace.
The biggest convention in April is the NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters Show) from April 18-22. The world’s largest annual event for TV, radio, film, streaming, production, and creator economy professionals is expected to draw more than 50,000 attendees to Las Vegas.
The main event in April will be WrestleMania, the largest wrestling event of the year, at Allegiant Stadium on April 18-19. The week will also bring wrestling events of all sizes to the city.
WrestleMania week is more than a single event. Think Super Bowl, Comic-Con, and a music festival for wrestling fans rolled into one. There are too many events to attend them all, but here’s a guide to WWE’s cornerstone activities:
WrestleMania After Dark is a chance to party with wrestlers at the newest Strip resort. WWE World is a five-day fan fest with interactive exhibits, superstar appearances, autograph sessions, and a massive merchandise shop. Visit WWE World for specific activations.
Other wrestling events in Las Vegas casinos include:
March Madness continues into April, with the Final Four on April 4 and the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship on April 6. Unlike the first weekend of March Madness, there aren’t watch parties at every casino, bar, and restaurant for these games.
While most of the attention will be on the championship, the College Basketball Crown will be taking place in Las Vegas. The eight-team tournament will be split between MGM Grand and T-Mobile Arena.
College hockey wraps up its season in Las Vegas as well. The NCAA Frozen Four will be played at T-Mobile Arena:
The Vegas Golden Knights don’t have many home games at T-Mobile Arena in April, as so many other events are scheduled.
Technically, demolition derby is also a sport. The Plaza in downtown Las Vegas is hosting a demolition derby at its outdoor CORE Arena from April 7th to 10th. The Las Vegas sports calendar used to be filled with unique events rather than professional sports.
There were a couple of big Las Vegas sports news items as March came to an end.
The NBA Board of Governors voted to explore Las Vegas as an expansion market. As we reported, this wasn’t a surprise.
MGM Resorts’ CEO Bill Hornbuckle immediately mentioned T-Mobile Arena as a possible home venue for the team. There are plenty of options should the owner want to build a new arena for the team.
ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news that Las Vegas will likely host Super Bowl LXIII in 2028, a rumor that has circulated for a few years. If there’s any real surprise, it’s that the game will be in 2028, not 2029 as initially discussed.
