Rivers Casino Pittsburgh paid $4.4 million today toward the construction expense of PPG Paints Arena. The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) and the casino jointly announced that $116.9 million has now been funded to date.

Rivers Casino contributes $7.5 million annually to the SEA, with instalments occurring in October and April each year. The next installment will be paid on April 1, 2025.  By 2038, Rivers Casino will have contributed a total of $225 million per the agreement with the SEA for the arena’s construction, which was completed in 2010.

“We’re proud to collaborate with the SEA and to support PPG Paints Arena, which draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city of Pittsburgh each year,” said Bud Green, general manager of Rivers Casino.

“We wish the Pittsburgh Penguins another great season on their home ice.”

Rivers Casino opened in August of 2009 and generates approximately $160 million annually for the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny County, and Pittsburgh, including the city’s economic development and tourism fund.

“We applaud Rivers Casino for delivering on its commitment and for its continued support,” said Aaron Waller, executive director of the Sports & Exhibition Authority. “PPG Paints Arena and Rivers Casino both continue to benefit the citizens of Allegheny County and the region.”

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
