LAS VEGAS -- Celebrity chef José Andrés reopened his famous Bazaar Meat steakhouse on October 23, but this time it’s down the Strip at another casino. The Sahara location closed its doors back on July 31, but the restaurant quietly debuted at The Palazzo on September 4. But it wasn't until last Thursday that the restaurant had a celebration for its grand reopening party for the carnivore’s heaven -- and it’s just as glitzy as you’d expect.
Andrés announced the relocation last October, opting to upgrade the steakhouse’s location to the luxurious stage at The Palazzo. The new 20,000-square-foot venue takes inspiration from Feria de Jerez, the lively Andalusian celebration of horses and Spanish culture. The restaurant can seat about 430 guests and includes a main dining room, a stylish bar and lounge, three private dining rooms, a covered terrace, and an exclusive private event space. It’s meant to be over-the-top and immersive in the true Vegas spirit. Bazaar Meat is open daily from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
On the menu are some of Bazaar Meat’s staples, including cotton candy foie gras, caviar cones, josper-roasted leeks, and live scallop ceviche. There’s something for those with a sweet tooth too in the form of the Sphere Graffiti -- a chocolate dome inspired by the iconic Sphere Las Vegas, that diners will break open with a mallet and to reveal the sweet treats inside.
“The place is gorgeous,” said Chef Jose Andrés. “Since day one, Bazaar Meat has been one of my favorite restaurants to send friends to. It’s a dinner and a show, and an incredible celebration of the carnivorous.”
The beverage program leans into the same showmanship. Guests can sip a Magical Mojito strained over cotton candy, or sip on a Nitro Caipirinha frozen right at the table. They also introduced an "interactive martini service," which allows guests to create their own martini with a selection of spirits, garnishes, and aromas.
Bazaar Meat’s relocation positions it among the many steakhouses already at the Palazzo -- two of which just opened this month. COTE opened on October 4, while BOA Steakhouse debuted earlier this month with a 50% local discount to celebrate its opening.
This follows Jose Andres' launch of Zaytinya over at the Caesars Palace back in May, a Mediterranean restaurant inspired by the flagship location in Washington D.C. Coincidentally, the venue hosted a kickoff party the day after Bazaar Meat’s opening party for ComplexCon, a large streetwear and culture convention. It’s fair to consider Andrés as one of the city’s most ambitious chefs by the success of his many culinary ventures.
Beyond The Venetian, there are a variety of other casino steakhouse openings in Las Vegas. The High Steaks restaurant, the product of Esther's Kitchen chef James Trees, just opened at the Rio, and the Sahara will open the caribbean steakhouse Maroon later this winter. Finally, Wynn has slowly but surely been working on their plans to bring Sartiano's Italian Steakhouse and the Zero Bond members’ club to the resort, both from hospitality veteran Scott Sartiano.
The Bazaar Meat Steakhouse is the perfect steakhouse for your luxury Vegas visitor who wants an over-the-top meal. Restaurants come and go all the time throughout Las Vegas, but the fact that the chef was successful in moving his critically acclaimed restaurant from the Sahara to the Palazzo instead of just closing it down is a great sign.
