Pennsylvania Casinos Generate $276 million in November, Falling 1.1% Year-on-Year

Pennsylvania casinos remained stagnant in November, recording $276 million in revenue, down from the previous year’s figure of $279.1 million and representing a year-on-year decline of 1.1%.

Slots revenue in the state remained stable with a minor decrease of 0.1%, falling from $201.5 million to $201.2 million. Additionally, table games revenue also fell 3.6% from $77.6 million to $74.7 million.

The drop in revenue coincides with the release of figures showing that the number of Pennsylvania residents contacting a problem gambling hotline has more than doubled since 2000.

Mount Airy is a Bright Spot in a Stagnant Casino Sector

The latest figures from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board show that of the 17 casino venues in the state, 10 showed a year-over-year revenue increase, led by Mount Airy, which reported a 5.9% rise from $16 million to $17 million.

Mohegan Pennsylvania was also up nearly 6%, generating $16.7 million in November this year, while Hollywood York and Parx Shippensburg both recorded year-on-year revenue rises of more than 4%.

Problem Gambling Hotline Calls Surge in 2025

Pennsylvania’s problem gambling hotline has seen a sharp increase in calls in 2025, adding to growing concerns about the impact of online betting across the state.

Throughout November, the hotline had recorded over 2,700 calls, according to data from the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania. This surpassed the previous annual record of 2,693 calls in 2023 and was more than double the total in 2020.

According to data, most callers report problems related to online sportsbooks and casino games, and many make contact after hitting a personal breaking point.

Young men made up the majority of callers, with men aged 25 to 34 accounting for more than two-thirds of contacts each year. Women account for 31% of calls so far in 2025, up from 27% in 2020. Data shows that the number of calls spikes around major events, such as the Super Bowl and March Madness, as well as in late fall and early winter, when gambling behavior appears to intensify.

Pennsylvania has several support options, including a self-exclusion program, counseling referrals, and peer support groups. But this latest data will raise questions about the effectiveness of current safeguards, even as gambling revenues continue to make a significant contribution to state coffers.

My love for gambling and casinos started early when my grandad handed me a video poker machine as a kid, sparking a lifelong fascination with the game. I grew up watching Celebrity Poker religiously and that turned into my organizing March Madness bracket tournaments all throughout elementary and high school—making every March a high-stakes competition among friends before I was even old enough to place a real bet.
