LAS VEGAS (Casinos.com) – Pool season in Las Vegas is already starting, with many dayclubs and hotel pools reopening over the next few weeks as temperatures warm up. But the Oasis Pool at Luxor Hotel and Casino will remain closed for the season as part of an ongoing renovation project that could extend into the summer.

MGM Resorts has not publicly commented on specific details about the renovation, but representatives at Luxor have confirmed the pool is still closed for the season. The pool has been closed and under construction since February.

The closure not only affects guests staying at Luxor hoping to take advantage of the resort’s pool complex, but it also impacts one of the Strip’s longest-running LGBTQ pool parties, Temptation Sundays.

Luxor’s Four Pools Closed During Demolition

The Oasis Pool complex at Luxor is made up of four different pools. Despite the south pool being the main one being worked on, the entire pool area at Luxor is currently closed.

MGM Resorts originally stated that at least one pool would remain open during demolition, but the ongoing construction has created such an eyesore that visitors are now being redirected to pools at nearby MGM properties.

In lieu of access to Luxor’s pool, guests are currently being offered entry to the pools at Mandalay BayMGM Grand, and Excalibur in the meantime.

Footage of the pool area shared by visitors in the last two weeks shows construction crews working on-site, and parts of the pool appear drained and partially demolished. Any sections of the pool that still contain water appear muddy and green.

Clark County records show that a demolition permit was issued for the site on Dec. 19.

The condition of the pool suggests significant construction work is underway.  Based on the current progress, the project does not appear close to completion.

Temptation Sundays On Hold for 2026

The renovation will also force one of the Strip’s longest-running LGBTQ pool parties to pause operations for this year.

Temptation Sundays has been running for about 15 years and would have celebrated its 16th season in 2026. The weekly pool party is a popular destination for LGBTQ visitors during the summer and often sees especially large crowds during Pride Month.

The party was typically held every Sunday at the Luxor pool, but according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the event will not return until 2027. That timeline suggests the construction project will likely continue through much of the 2026 pool season.

MGM Resorts has said the new pool will feature additional deck space once it reopens. The project is expected to conclude around July, though the timeline may change.

Once the work is completed, the updated pool is likely to host Temptation Sundays again.

It’s promising to see that MGM continues to invest in one of its lower-tier Strip properties by refreshing a popular resort amenity, despite the company's statement that Luxor and Excalibur account for only about 6% of its earnings from Las Vegas properties.
