The regulated casino sector in Illinois produced a strong performance in April, generating Adjusted Gross Receipts (AGR) of $162.6 million.
That figure is up 19% from the $137.0 million year-on-year number, although a significant part of that increase was due to the opening of two new venues: Fairmount Park and Wind Creek, which were not in operation last April.
Electronic gaming devices contributed the bulk of the total, with $122 million, while table games generated $40.5 million.

Overall, the state’s 17 licensed casinos performed strongly in April. Of the 15 that were in operation last April, 12 showed increases in total AGR. The most significant growth came from the Hard Rock Casino Rockford, which reported a 90% increase in AGR year-on-year.
Walker’s Bluff also had a good year, recording a total AGR of $3.1 million, representing a 24% rise. At the same time, Argosy Casino Alton, Bally’s Quad Cities, Danville, DraftKings at Casino Queen, and Par-A-Dice also showed double-figure growth in their AGR year-on-year.
The state’s two Harrah’s casinos were the worst performers. Harrah’s Joliet showed a decline of 11% in AGR to $9.4 million in April 2025, while the AGR at Harrah’s Metropolis fell 45%.
Although both of Bally’s venues in Illinois posted AGR growth in April (Bally’s Chicago and Bally’s Quad City, showing revenue increases of 7% and 11%, respectively), the company’s third proposed casino in Prairie State won’t add to the revenue totals anytime soon.
The Illinois Gaming Board has stopped work at Bally’s Casino River West site pending investigation after local newspapers reported that an unapproved waste-haulage company used by contractors on the site may have links to organized crime.
"The IGB is investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the use of the vendors. The IGB takes these matters seriously, and it will take appropriate action to maintain integrity and safety following the completion of the investigation,” the Illinois Gaming Board said in a statement.
My love for gambling and casinos started early when my grandad handed me a video poker machine as a kid, sparking a lifelong fascination with the game. I grew up watching Celebrity Poker religiously and that turned into my organizing March Madness bracket tournaments all throughout elementary and high school—making every March a high-stakes competition among friends before I was even old enough to place a real bet.
