Following a successful run in Ontario and Alberta, the “Game of Thrones” slot is expanding into the U.S. with BetMGM.
Warner Bros. Discovery Experiences and Blueprint Gaming announced the game's launch last week, bringing it to New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia through BetMGM Casino. Players in New Jersey and Pennsylvania can also play the game via Borgata Online.
“Game of Thrones” made its debut in April on BetMGM Ontario before going live in Alberta in mid-July, following the province’s legalization of iGaming. The original slot game version debuted in late December 2014.
“Game of Thrones” was a global phenomenon with a passionate fan base, premiering on HBO in 2011 and running through 2019. The show was based on the book series written by George R.R. Martin, set in the world of Westeros.
The show won 59 Emmy Awards, including Best Series every year except one from 2015 to 2019.
The “Game of Thrones” slot is being brought to the U.S. by White Hat Studios’ House of Brands portfolio, which is responsible for bringing content from Blueprint as well as other studios to regulated U.S. markets. Charlie Jacka, Product Director at Blueprint Gaming, said the launch fits into House of Brands’ overall strategy of bringing recognizable entertainment franchises to players.
“The game captures the iconic characters, soundtrack, and world of Westeros while delivering a highly engaging slot experience,” said Jacka. “At Blueprint Gaming, we’re focused on bringing some of the world’s most recognizable entertainment brands to players through our House of Brands portfolio, and Game of Thrones is one of our most ambitious launches to date.”
BetMGM Casino is offering a series of promotions and player rewards in the U.S. ahead of the new game's release.
There will be a $25,000 leaderboard competition from October 5 to 11. Players will also have opportunities to earn bonus spins, enter sweepstakes, compete in leaderboard competitions, and chase daily prize opportunities. Multiple bonus spin events will also be available throughout the launch period.
