One of the most popular fantasy dramas is coming to BetMGM’s online slots collection. The company recently announced that the popular Game of Thrones (GOT) slot will be added to its library, in partnership with Blueprint Gaming.
This partnership marks another high-profile branded slot release for BetMGM, which is already performing well in the markets where it initially rolled out. The slot will arrive first on BetMGM Casino Ontario, with a multi-month exclusivity agreement before a targeted release in certain parts of the U.S. this summer.
The partnership was developed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and U.K.-based game studio BluePrint Gaming.
Oliver Bartlett, VP of Gaming at BetMGM, told Casinos.com why he’s personally excited about this particular collaboration.
“Like so many fans, I tuned in every week to Game of Thrones and was enthralled by the scale of its storytelling,” Bartlett said. “The Blueprint Gaming partnership for Game of Thrones is a textbook execution of our content-led iGaming strategy of winning with exclusive, premium IP.”
Blueprint Gaming built the slot experience around its Money Collect mechanic, which progresses as players push on. With the Knights Watch Collect feature, players unlock the sigils of the four most powerful houses in Westeros: House Stark, House Baratheon, House Lannister, and House Targaryen. Each house is a major part of the show's lore, rewarding fans already familiar with the source material.
Bartlett said that launching this slot first in the Ontario online casino market is a strategic move to tap into one of their most important markets.
“The Ontario-first launch is also strategically timed,” he added. “It deepens engagement in one of our most competitive markets, sets us up with a differentiation story heading into our Alberta launch and teases a similar release in the states this summer.”
Game of Thrones premiered on HBO in 2011 and ran through 2019, based on George R.R. Martin's books. The show was nothing short of a global phenomenon, with a passionate fan base, winning 59 Emmy Awards, including Best Series in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. The land-based slot game version debuted in late December 2014.
The Game of Thrones slot is the product of two companies that have been building toward a release like this. Blueprint Gaming was founded in 2009 and has grown into a leading game studio with a portfolio of over 500 titles. It’s also part of Germany’s Merkur Group's strategy to extend the reach of titles worldwide.
The new slot title will join what BetMGM calls an “exclusive lineup” including slots about Elvis Presley, Survivor, and The Wizard of Oz.
Since BetMGM’s debut in 2018, it has grown into one of the largest online gaming platforms in North America. It is a partnership between MGM Resorts International and Entain with thousands of games. BetMGM also has interests in poker tournaments, sports betting, and online gaming.
