The Benefits of Using Interac at Online Casinos

Interac is the most widely used casino payment methods in Canada, and for good reason. It is faster than a bank transfer, more private than a credit card, and accepted at virtually every Canadian casino site. Here is a full breakdown of why it is the go-to choice for Canadian players.

Interac Casino Bonus Eligibility

Most welcome bonuses at Interac casino sites treat an Interac e-Transfer deposit the same as a bank transfer or debit card payment, which means you are eligible for the full bonus amount.

This is a major advantage over e-wallets like Skrill or Neteller, which many casinos exclude from bonus offers.

There are a few exceptions worth knowing about. Some casinos apply a lower bonus percentage to banking methods they class as 'low-risk', and some site-specific promotions are card-only.

The safest approach is to read the bonus terms before depositing. If the terms say 'e-wallets excluded', Interac is almost always still eligible.

If they say 'bank transfers only', check with live chat before you deposit.

Fast Deposits and Withdrawals

With Interac, deposits to the online casino will land in seconds, especially with the Autodeposit feature. Withdrawal times will vary, but can often be same-day provided your account has been verified and you’ve passed the identity checks.

Great Security

Because you deposit using an e-Transfer from your banking app, your credit card details are never shared with the casino, only between your bank and Interac. The only payment-related details the casino receives is the email you use for your Interac account.

Widely Supported in Canada

All online casinos in Ontario and Alberta accept Interac, and virtually all casinos available in the rest of Canada do too. The same can be said for Canadian banks. If the bank is Canadian, it’ll work with Interac.

Low or No Extra Fees

Casinos usually don’t charge for Interac and many bank plans include free e-Transfers. Also, as Interac is Canadian, you pay and get paid in Canadian dollars, so there’s no hidden foreign exchange (FX) fees.

Clear Records

Each transfer between Interac and your casino has a reference number in your banking history, which helps customer support find or fix issues fast.

Privacy-Friendly Descriptions

Interac payouts to your bank usually show the payment processor (normally Gigadat) or the casino’s corporate name, not the casino’s flashy brand name. That’s helpful when you need to submit bank statements for loans or tax reviews, because the description is neutral yet still traceable.

Interac in Ontario

Ontario has its own regulated online gambling market, operated under iGaming Ontario and licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Every legal casino operating in Ontario must hold an AGCO licence, and all of them accept Interac.

If you are playing from Ontario, there are a few things that differ from the rest of Canada. First, welcome bonuses in Ontario are regulated differently. Wagering requirements and bonus amounts are subject to Ontario-specific advertising rules, which is why some casinos show different offers to Ontario players.

Second, if your casino is AGCO-licensed, your Interac withdrawal goes through the same standard process, but the casino is required to complete identity checks before processing any withdrawal, regardless of amount.

Pre-verifying your KYC documents as soon as you sign up removes this friction entirely.

Our list of recommended casinos includes both AGCO-licensed sites for Ontario players and internationally licensed sites available to players in the rest of Canada. The region detection on this page will show you the relevant options for your location.

Interac in Alberta

Alberta is launching its regulated iGaming market on July 13, 2026, making it the second Canadian province after Ontario to open online gambling to licensed private operators.

For players looking for Interac casinos in Alberta, the timing means a significant shift: dozens of regulated options are arriving at once, all operating under provincial oversight and all expected to support Interac as a standard banking method.

The market is regulated by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), with the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) handling commercial agreements between the province and individual operators.

The confirmed operator list includes major brands such as FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, BallyBet, PointsBet Canada, and theScore Bet, alongside the existing government-run platform Play Alberta. Super Group brands including Betway, JackpotCity, Spin Casino, and Royal Vegas are also on the list, as are Canadian-owned operators such as BET99, Betty Gaming, and River Cree iGaming.

Every casino operating legally in Alberta must hold an AGLC registration. Interac is accepted across all of them for both deposits and withdrawals, the same as it is in Ontario.

A few things are worth knowing before you sign up. Bonus offers at Alberta-licensed casinos are subject to provincial advertising rules, which means welcome offers may look different here than what players in other provinces see. Read the terms before claiming anything, since wagering requirements and eligible games vary by operator.

Withdrawals through Interac follow the standard process, but AGLC-registered casinos are required to verify your identity before releasing any funds. Completing your KYC documents right after registration removes that friction entirely when you are ready to cash out.

Our list on this page covers AGLC-registered Interac casinos available to Alberta players, updated as the market matures past launch.

How To Use Interac at an Online Casino

Before you deposit, it is worth knowing the typical Interac limits at online casinos in Canada. These can vary slightly between sites, but the figures below cover the vast majority of licensed Canadian casinos.

 MinimumMaximumProcessing Time
Deposit$10$3,000 (varies by casino)Instant (Autodeposit)
Withdrawal$10$3,000 per transaction (varies)Same-day to 3 business days
Fees None (casino side)None (casino side)Bank may charge per e-Transfer on some plans
CurrencyCAD onlyCAD onlyNo FX fees

Verify limits for each casino individually as they can vary. The above represents typical ranges across our reviewed sites.

Depositing Using Interac

  1. Go to the casino cashier and choose ‘Interac e-Transfer’ under the list of deposit options.
  2. Copy the details the cashier shows (This will include a recipient name and email and a memo/reference code).
  3. Open your own online banking app (such as RBC, TD, BMO or CIBC) and select Interac e-Transfer.
  4. Enter the amount you wish to deposit and send the e-Transfer to the exact recipient email and name from the casino cashier.
  5. If you have the Autodeposit feature enabled for your casino email, you’re done. If not, you’ll likely need to complete a security-question step from the casino.
  6. Return to the casino cashier where your new balance should show up in seconds if you’ve autodeposited or after the casino accepts your security question.

Withdrawal Using Interac

  1. Verify your identity with the casino. Known as the ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) check, this step requires you to submit photo ID and proof of address to the casino. You won’t be able to withdraw winnings until this step is completed.
  2. Go to the casino cashier, select Withdraw and choose Interac.
  3. Enter the amount you wish to withdraw. Make sure to stay under any withdrawal limits the casino may have. Smaller withdrawals will often clear faster as the casino won’t manually check them and will just automatically approve the request.
  4. Depending on your chosen settings, the casino will either send an Interac Request Money to your email or banking app, or a push notification to your Autodeposit email. You’ll need to confirm the transaction in your banking app if they send an Interac Request Money, but if you have Autodeposit enabled the cash should land automatically.

Using the Autodeposit Feature

The Autodeposit feature is the fastest way to fund your casino account with Interac. Once enabled in your banking app, any incoming Interac e-Transfer sent to your registered email will be credited automatically, without you needing to answer a security question or log in to accept it.

To set up Autodeposit, open your banking app and navigate to the Interac settings or e-Transfer preferences. Register the email address you use for your casino account. From that point on, casino deposits sent to that email will land within a few seconds.

Autodeposit also works for withdrawals. When the casino sends your withdrawal as an e-Transfer to your Autodeposit email, the funds bypass the manual acceptance step and go straight to your bank account. This is the key reason why Interac withdrawals at the best sites can complete in under an hour.

One important note: each email address can only be registered for Autodeposit with one bank account. If you have multiple casino accounts using different emails, you will need to set up Autodeposit separately for each one.

My Advice for Using Interac to Fund Your Casino Account

I’ve worked in the Canadian casino industry for several years now, so I have a pretty good handle on how to get the most out of signing-up to a new online casino.

If you’re using Interac to make your first deposit, here’s some (hopefully) helpful tips:

Turn On Interac Autodeposit

In your banking app, enable the Interac Autodeposit feature for the email you use at your online casino. This will mean your bank will automatically accept e-Transfers without security questions, delivering funds in seconds and reducing risk, errors and delays for casino deposits and withdrawals.

Pre-Verify KYC

Before you start playing at your new online casino, make sure you verify your identity so you can withdraw any potential winnings. Known as the Know Your Customer (KYC) check, you’ll need to upload a form of ID, proof of address and, if you decide to play big, recent bank statements or paystubs to prove you’re not laundering money.

Make a Plan for Larger Withdrawals

If you’re lucky enough to win big, you might not be able to withdraw all the money at once. Casinos and even your bank have daily transfer limits. So, schedule multiple smaller withdrawals over a longer period to avoid any blocked transfers. Also, request cash outs earlier in the day and during the working week, as requests made outside office hours can take longer.

Stick to One Device When Cashing Out

Using a new device or VPN for cashing out will cause your account to be flagged and likely result in a delay of payment or extra KYC checks. So withdraw on the same device and network you used to deposit and verify your account with. If you absolutely have to use a VPN, tell customer support in advance.

Keep Your Identity Details Consistent

Make sure your name and email for your Interac and bank account matches that of your casino account. Avoid using nicknames or joint emails. Even the smallest difference can force the casino to enforce extra checks and could delay you receiving your winnings.

Alternatives to Interac

Interac is a great payment method to use at Canadian casinos, but depending on your priorities other methods might suit you better.

For example, if you want to use physical cash to play at online casinos then Neosurf is a better option.

If you want even more discretion, then use e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller. They go one step further than Interac in that when you move winnings back to your bank, the statement simply shows a transfer from your e-wallet, not the casino’s corporate name.

Neosurf:

A prepaid voucher you buy with cash at retail stores. Neosurf is better than Interac if you want to fund your casino account without any link to your bank account at all. Withdrawals are not supported, so you will need a second method to cash out.

PayPal

PayPal is available at a smaller number of Canadian casinos than Interac (it's currently only accepted at some online casinos in Ontario), but offers an extra layer of separation between your bank and the casino. PayPal withdrawals are fast, though some bonuses exclude it. See our PayPal casinos page for the full list.

Neteller

E-wallets, such as Neteller, add an extra buffer between your bank and the casino. Payouts to your bank statement show only the e-wallet name, not the casino. The trade-off is that many casinos exclude Neteller and other e-wallets from bonus offers.

iDebit

iDebit is similar to Interac in that it connects directly to your bank account. However, fewer casinos support it, but it is still a reasonable fallback if you encounter issues with Interac at a specific site.
