Colorado Casinos Make $99.8M in May

Colorado’s commercial casinos reported a combined total of $99.8 million in adjusted gross proceeds (AGP) in May 2025, up 0.6% from last year’s $99.2 million.

The figures, published by the Colorado Department of Revenue, revealed that slot AGP totaled $85.2 million, a slight 0.3% rise from the $85 million recorded in May 2024. Table games followed with a combined revenue of $14.6 million, reflecting a more noticeable 2.4% year-on-year increase from $14.2 million.

Within this segment, baccarat, blackjack and craps, remained the most lucrative offerings, making a substantial contribution to the overall table game revenue.

In May 2025, the Centennial State had 33 licensed commercial casinos in operation. These casinos generated approximately $18.9 million in gaming tax revenue for the state, a modest gain from the $18.6 million collected in May 2024.

Central City Lags Behind In May

The table shows the revenue of Colorado’s three designated gaming regions. Two regions reported year-on-year AGP increases, while only one recorded a significant decline.

Central City had the most abysmal month in May, dropping by 12.8%, from $7.2 million in May 2024 to $6.3 million in May 2025. In contrast, Black Hawk remained the state’s dominant market last month, posting AGP of $77 million, a year-on-year rise of 1.4%.

Following this, Cripple Creek region also showed year-on-year growth, with AGP reaching approximately $16.6 million, a 2.6% increase from the $16.1 million generated in the same month the previous year.

Colorado-Based Century Casinos Fights Back from Losses

Thanks to the overall strong performance in the Black Hawk and Cripple Creek regions, Century Casinos, Inc., which is based in Colorado, is receiving attention in and out of the state.

After significant losses and drops in stock prices earlier this year, angry investors urged the Colorado-based company to divest its Polish and Canadian assets and focus on its US operations during an earnings call on March 13 this year. However, the company's stock price has risen by 26% in recent weeks, leaving year-to-date losses just under 25%. The company keeps gaining momentum with recent announcements of partnerships and deals.

On May 27, 2025, Century Casinos, Inc. announced a long-term agreement between its subsidiary, Century Casino & Hotel Cape Girardeau, and international gambling operator BetMGM to launch an online and mobile sports betting platform in Missouri.

Under the agreement, BetMGM will function under Century’s license, with the option to establish a retail sportsbook at the casino's discretion. The agreement ensures a certain minimum payment to Century based on a percentage of net gaming revenue generated through the partnership.

“We are excited to partner with BetMGM, a leading online sports betting and gaming entertainment company with a dynamic and innovative brand,” announced Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, Co-Chief Executive Officers of Century Casinos. “This partnership is another step forward in leveraging our Missouri licenses and delivering premium entertainment experiences for our customers.”

The agreement is dependent on securing all necessary gaming licenses and regulatory approvals.
