LAS VEGAS – For the second time in a year, the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino is hosting a pop-up to provide free overdose prevention supplies on the first day of the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC).

The event is hosted by Victoria's Voice Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Westgate owners David and Jackie Siegel. The foundation was created in memory of their daughter Victoria, who died from an overdose at 18 years old in 2015. Their non-profit focuses on education and access to life-saving resources in the case of a drug overdose.

Free Narcan, Test Strips & Resources

The pop-up will take place on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the resort's north hallway. During the event, the foundation will give out over 1,000 doses of Narcan (naloxone) along with fentanyl test strips and other harm reduction resources for EDC attendees. Organizers will also be on site to explain how to use these items.

Any guests staying at Westgate through the Live How You Want EDM travel agency will receive a free Narcan in their gift box.

According to EDC's official acceptable and prohibited items list, festivalgoers are allowed to bring Narcan inside the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Music festivals can be notorious for having drug overdoses. EDC is one of the largest electronic music festivals in the country, bringing 525,000 dance music fans to Vegas for the event. According to a March 2026 study in PMC, patients from EDC had a higher rate of ICU admission than patients in other contexts.

Making medication accessible to attendees in advance can improve response times during emergencies, especially when someone is stuck in crowds of hundreds of people that take time to exit. Luckily, EDC has a wonderful Ground Control team and on-site medical team that works hard to look out for attendees in the case of overdoses or other medical emergencies.

Westgate Taking Steps to Protect Attendees

Harm reduction efforts have become more popular at major festivals where overdoses are a frequent concern. The fact that this effort is funded and run by the owners of the host casino gives it a permanence that distinguishes it from an effort by an outside advocacy organization.

Many responded on social media praising the foundation’s partnership with Westgate to offer life-saving treatments, especially since drug use can be common at festivals.

"Victoria's Voice does important work in this community," wrote Instagram commenter Ryan Rose. "Having naloxone and fentanyl strips available at Westgate before EDC on May 15 is a real lifesaver for festivalgoers."

Others questioned the scope of the tool, but it's worth understanding how exactly Narcan works. Narcan is a drug that only reverses overdoses from opioids like heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, morphine, and methadone. It does not work for non-opioid substances like cocaine, methamphetamine, xanax, MDMA, or alcohol (many of which are popularly used at festivals).

Commenter Angela Porcelli added a thorough perspective on Narcan's limits at a festival.

"The real emergency might be something else: alcohol poisoning, heat stroke, stimulant overdose, dehydration, panic attack, seizure, or diabetic emergency,” Porcelli wrote. “Naloxone won't fix those. At an event in Las Vegas with tens of thousands of people, having overdose kits available is smarter than pretending drugs aren't there. Harm reduction saves lives. The key is education, so people know it's not a magic spray for every emergency."
