Vegas Trips: Which States Plan Visits To Sin City The Most & The Least

No matter where you are in the world, and whether you're planning a birthday party, hen night, bachelor do, or even a wedding - one place always seems to get a shout, and that's Las Vegas.

Tens of millions of people visit the city every year. A thriving nightlife is on top of being the casino destination capital of the world, the world's biggest stars perform here regularly. It truly is the perfect place to plan a trip - somewhere where there is something to do 24/7.

However, it's not for everyone. While some people can see the allure of the Vegas lights, for others, it's just a bit too much. While we at Casinos.com might prefer to visit one of the famous popular Las Vegas casinos, others might prefer a quiet weekend at a quaint vineyard - but each to their own.

And with that in mind, we wanted to find out which US states are more inclined to visit Las Vegas than others, and likewise which natives don't fancy visiting what is dubbed as 'Adult Disneyland'. We looked at search volume data for queries such as 'Las Vegas booking', 'Vegas trip', and 'Airbnb Las Vegas' to find out who is researching a trip to the Nevada hot spot the most.

Which States Plans Vegas Trips The Most?

We've excluded Nevada - for obvious reasons - as part of this study. Search volumes in that state are predictably ten times higher than anywhere else.

Utah was the state with the highest search scores for keywords relating to visiting Las Vegas. Natives here topped the charts for searches such as 'Vegas flights', 'Las Vegas booking', and 'Vegas trip'.

Other states with a propensity for Vegas visits are Hawaii, which actually had the highest search volume for 'Vegas trip'. Californians are also eager to plan a trip, with an overall search score of 98.

Arizona, New Mexico, Washington, Colorado, and Idaho are among the other states that had high search volume scores related to booking a trip to the Desert Oasis.

Which States Plans Vegas Trips The Least?

On the flipside, we also took a look at the least Vegas enthusiastic states - with Vermont the runaway leader in this category after recording a search score of just 4 (out of a possible 1100).

Alaska was next on the list, albeit with a score four times higher than Vermont. Rhode Island - who recently launched their first online casino - and Maine were also not too keen to travel to make the pilgrimage to Nevada.

vegas unenthusiastic states

West Virginia, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey are all unlikely to book a trip to Vegas, according to the data.

This can probably be explained most likely by their proximity to Nevada, but also, all three have their own thriving land-based casino scene and also the ability to play at casino sites, which could quell any urges.

Methodology:

We looked at search volume data from Google Trends over the previous 12 months across a number of Las Vegas trip-related keywords and queries to decipher which states were searching for them the most and the least.

  • Keywords and queries tracked: Vegas flights, Las Vegas booking, Vegas booking, Las Vegas trips, Vegas trip, things to do Las Vegas, Airbnb Las Vegas, Las Vegas flights, Vegas reviews, Las Vegas reviews

The search volume for each state was measured and tallied, and a leaderboard was combined based on the search scores.
