Ready to Ditch Your Heels? Vegas Has a Vending Machine for That.

LAS VEGAS – Most women I know have had that moment when the thought of walking another step in our cute, albeit horribly uncomfortable, heels makes us want to lie down on a Vegas hotel carpet after a night out. Or even worse, some resort to walking the Las Vegas Strip barefoot on the concrete, heels in hand. (Ick.)

Luckily, there’s an alternative at many casinos on the boulevard. You can now get a pair of flats straight out of a vending machine scattered around the north part of the Strip.

Rollasole launched in the U.S. back in 2011 and has provided comfort to aching heels for 15 years. The shoes go for $20 per pair, barely the cost of a drink. Each machine dispenses a pair of black flats along with a carrying bag for high heels. Sizes range from Small to XL on most machines – definitely note that medium sells out frequently.

From a Night Out in the U.K. to Vending Machines Across the  Strip

Rollasole originally launched in 2008 in the U.K. and was created by Matt Horan. He was inspired after his girlfriend expressed frustration about walking home in high heels after a night out. The original pitch for the brand was to position it as “the emergency shoe for nightlife.”

Ashley Ross, a Vegas native who’d been heading towards a career in real estate, had a fortuitous meeting with Horan across the pond. Her vision was to become a part of the brand and distribute machines across Vegas. Ross is now the brand’s sole U.S. owner after buying the rights from Horan in 2011.

“Rollasole flats can be a lifesaver for women visiting Las Vegas, whether a heel breaks or they simply can't take another step in high heels,” Ross said. “We provide a quick, comfortable alternative so they can change into flats and continue enjoying their night out in Vegas!”

I remember bringing my flip-flops to a Ludacris performance at the now-closed Light Nightclub at Mandalay Bay years ago. I walked all the way across the casino in my flats and changed into my heels in the bathroom. So many women did the same thing, and I ended up hanging out with two of them while I waited in heels until 1:51 a.m. for Ludacris to come on stage. I love you Ludacris, but it would’ve been mission impossible to last that long in those shoes without flats hidden in a bag.

A Partygoer’s Secret Weapon

Rollasole has also cornered a part of the awards circuit with a five-year collaboration with the Golden Globes InStyle after party. They help celebrities unwind from the feet up.

If you want to grab Rollasole outside of Vegas for your local nightclubs, you can order their shoes online, with names like “Wanderlust,” “Sunkissed,” and “Charmed”. No shoe is over $31.
