Plaza Joins Las Vegas High-Limit Slot Room Boom

The Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas is the latest property to jump on the high-limit slot room trend. Since 2022, 15 high-limit rooms have been built or renovated, including one on Fremont Street.

Las Vegas casino operators continue to tout that hotel room renovations and upgraded high-limit gaming spaces are helping boost revenue. New rooms bring higher rates, while high-limit rooms increase gaming revenue.

The upgrades aren't only at luxury resorts on the Strip. Boyd Gaming and Station Casinos have upgraded high-limit rooms on the east and west sides of the main tourist corridors. Similarly, El Cortez, on the opposite side of the Fremont Street Experience from the Plaza, expanded last year and upgraded its high-limit experience for players.

Las Vegas high-limit rooms vary by property and location. The spaces are often created for players looking for a different vibe. The minimum bets in some off-Strip high-limit rooms can be lower than those on the main casino floor at premium Strip properties.

Details Emerge on Plaza’s New High-Limit Room Opening

Plaza's new 2,000-square-foot high-limit room will open this summer on the main casino floor. It will feature 60 games, comprised of slot machines and electronic table games.

This will be a different kind of high-limit slot room, since dealerless electronic table games are considered slots by Nevada gaming regulators.

The design will lean into classic Vegas but will still be distinct from the main gaming floor, with dark tones, plush furnishings, and Art Deco accents.

The room will also have its own ticket-in, ticket-out machine, bill breaker, ATM, cashier, and concierge so guests can easily make restaurant reservations. Cocktail service will run 24 hours a day, with drinks on ice available throughout.

Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO Jonathan Jossel called the new space part of the property's ongoing effort to "diversify its offerings" to better meet guests' needs.

“Adding a high-limit gaming room is just another amenity we want to provide so our guests know they have a variety of gaming options at the Plaza, including an exclusive, comfortable, and personalized area for slot play,” Jossel said.

One distinctive feature of the room is that Plaza is willing to close it for private events. There's room for platters, buffets, and drinks for groups looking for their own private slot room.

High-Limit Room Expansion Happening All Over Las Vegas

The Plaza is simply the newest casino to open a new high-limit gaming salon among a wave of high-limit slot room investment all over the city. In December of 2025, Station Casinos completed an expansion of the Durango Casino & Resort, which included a beautiful new high-limit slot room. Over the past four years, Station Casinos has upgraded or is in the process of upgrading the majority of its high-limit gaming rooms. 

Since 2022, 15 casinos throughout the Las Vegas Valley have either upgraded or built new high-limit gaming rooms:

The high-limit upgrades at these Vegas casinos aren't just for gamblers. Hotel rooms, restaurants, and lounges are also being upgraded.

Strip casinos get plenty of publicity for high-end restaurant upgrades. Gymkhana at Aria and Carbone Riviera at Bellagio are just a couple of the new fine dining options on the main tourist corridor.

Off the Strip, Station Casinos recently announced it will renovate Hank's Fine Steakhouse at Green Valley Ranch later this year. The company is also adding fine dining restaurants at Sunset Station and Durango Casino.

While budget travelers are feeling the squeeze from high prices, more affluent guests are finding more amenities to their liking.

Coincidentally, Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol said during a CNBC interview on Wednesday that their coffee is an "affordable luxury" for some customers, while others splurge on it now and again.
