Pennsylvania Online Casino Revenue Up 6.3% in August as Total Gaming Slips 2.2%

Pennsylvania's casinos and their online partners generated $569.7 million in combined gaming revenue during August, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported, a 2.2% decrease from the $582.3 million collected in August 2025.

The decline came despite continued growth in online casino play. Interactive gaming, known as iGaming, generated $245.7 million during the month, up 6.3% year-over-year, while retail slot and table game revenue at Pennsylvania's physical casinos declined and sports wagering fell nearly 20%. Thanks to online casino, the state collected $249.0 million in gaming taxes across all categories in August.

Online casino revenue reached $245.7 million in August, an increase of 6.3% from $231.2 million a year earlier. Online slots drove the growth, generating $195.2 million, up 8.8% year-over-year and accounting for 79% of all iGaming revenue. Online table games brought in $48.1 million, down 2.6%, and online poker added $2.4 million, down 5.2%.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, whose in-person casino floor is modest but which operates as the license holder for several major online casino brands, generated $95.4 million in iGaming revenue, up 11.6% year-over-year and by far the largest share of the state's online casino market. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $67.5 million, down slightly from a year earlier, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia added $39.9 million, up 9.0%.

Pennsylvania's physical casinos posted mixed results in August. Retail slot machine revenue held relatively steady at $213.9 million, down 1.3% year-over-year, but retail table games fell sharply to $66.4 million, an 18.1% decline. Sports wagering revenue dropped 19.9% to $39.4 million, a decline the Gaming Control Board attributed in part to the later start of the college football season compared with a year earlier. Video gaming terminals, the slot machines permitted at truck stops across the state, generated $3.4 million, down 6.4%.

Measured by total gaming revenue combining retail and iGaming, Hollywood Casino at Penn National again led the state with $109.5 million, up 8.1% year-over-year. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $94.4 million, down 4.4%, and Rivers Casino Philadelphia brought in $57.5 million, up 1.0%. Parx Casino generated $52.0 million, down 10.6%, and Wind Creek Bethlehem posted $37.6 million, down 24.9% from a year earlier.

Pennsylvania taxes each form of gaming at a different rate, and iGaming has now overtaken retail slots as the single largest source of gaming tax revenue in the state. Interactive gaming generated $113.5 million in taxes during August, while retail slot machines produced $108.1 million. Sports wagering added $14.2 million in taxes, retail table games contributed $11.4 million, video gaming terminals brought in $1.7 million, and fantasy contests, which posted the fastest growth of any category at 54.6% year-over-year, added $154,184.
