In August, casinos in New Jersey generated $311.9 million in revenue, up 6.1% from the $294 million generated in 2024. Of the total, table games generated $77.6 million, and slots generated $234.3 million.
In other news, last week the Ocean Casino Resort held a fundraising event with the Reform Alliance on Saturday, which raised over $20 million. Founded in 2019 by Jay-Z, Robert Kraft, and Michael Rubin, this is the second event held at the Ocean Casino to raise money for criminal justice.
While earlier this month, Tropicana Casino & Resort opened its newest gaming space, the Gridiron Pit. This space features table games and live sports viewing, and opened just in time for the Philadelphia Eagles' opening game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The latest report from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement shows that of the nine casinos in the state, seven experienced year-on-year revenue increases. On top of that, New Jersey recorded its highest revenue since August 2012 with slots and table games revenue exceeding iGaming revenue, which reported $248.4 million, up 6.1% year-on-year.
New Jersey Casino Control Commission Chairman James Plousis pointed out that Atlantic City casinos were “back on track” in August, adding, “Competitive gaming options and first-class in-person experiences provided a memorable summer in Atlantic City and it is well-positioned for continued momentum in the fall season.” He also noted that each casino reported an increase in either slot or table games win, with five recording increases in both.

Out of the casinos, the most significant year-on-year gain was experienced by the Ocean Casino Resort, which generated $51.2 million, up 16.2% from the just over $44 million the year prior. Slots for the casino contributed $35.5 million, up 11.1% from $31.9 million, and table games generated $15.7 million, up 29.6% from $12.1 million in August 2024.
Bally’s Atlantic City saw the largest loss year-over-year of 7.6%, with profits decreasing from $15.6 million to $14.5 million. Additionally, Golden Nugget Casino experienced a 1.2% loss year-on-year, from $14.6 million to $14.4 million, and Resorts Casino & Spa’s revenue remained stable, increasing only by 0.1%, from $16.09 million to $16.11 million.
Another strong win came from the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, which saw an increase of 8.2% year-over-year. Of the total table games revenue, there was a loss of 2.2% from $20.6 million to $20.2 million, while slots increased by 12.1%, from $53.6 million to $60 million.
The Oceans Casino resort welcomed various celebrities on Saturday night for the Reform Alliance Gala, which raised around $20 million for the non-profit.
The gala, which was first held in 2023 and raised $24 million, includes a blackjack tournament, auctions, and a headline of entertainment, which this year included the Weeknd, Ice Spice, and Travis Scott.
The Reform Alliance raised funds for its ‘Work Matters’ initiative, which educates employers about ‘second-chance hiring’ and connects them with job seekers with challenging legal backgrounds as part of its aim to “transform probation and parole. “
The organization commented on the event and said, “Our second Reform Alliance Casino Night at Ocean Casino Resort was truly a night to remember. The millions raised will support our ‘Work Matters’ initiative and will continue to fuel groups working every day to build safer communities through our community grants program."
