Maryland casinos generated $160.7 million in gaming revenue in June 2025, a decline of 1.4% from the $162.9 million collected in June 2024 and an even sharper decline of 8.9% from the $176.4 million generated in May 2025.
Maryland Lottery and Gaming reported the figures, revealing that of the six commercial casinos in Maryland, three saw year-on-year growth while three saw numbers dropping.
The most significant factor behind the drop in revenues was that Maryland’s two biggest gaming revenue generators, MGM National Harbor and Live! Casino & Hotel, saw revenues fall year over year.
MGM National Harbor added the most to the statewide total, bringing in $67.2 million in June 2025. That accounted for nearly 42% of the total. However, that was a drop of 1.4% compared to June 2024.
The casino that lost the most money from June 2025 gaming revenues was Live! Casino & Hotel, with a 2.4% decline in year-on-year revenues, which amounted to a $1.4 million decrease.
Hollywood Casino saw the steepest revenue decline, with a 3.7% drop, but that didn’t have as much impact as the other two casinos.
| Casino | June 2024 Gaming Revenue | June 2025 Gaming Revenue | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| MGM National Harbor | $68,151,492 | $67,166,662 | -1.4% |
| Live! Casino & Hotel | $60,399,039 | $58,956,143 | -2.4% |
| Horseshoe Casino | $14,112,716 | $14,223,686 | +0.8% |
| Ocean Downs Casino | $8,135,862 | $8,484,525 | +4.3% |
| Hollywood Casino | $7,523,001 | $7,243,207 | -3.7% |
| Rocky Gap Casino | $4,592,322 | $4,594,322 | +0.04% |
| Total | $162,914,432 | $160,668,545 | -1.4% |
The other three casinos in the state increased revenues in June 2025 compared to June 2204. Oceans Down Casino saw a 4.3% rise in revenues, adding only $348,000 to the statewide total. Meanwhile, Horseshoe Casino oversaw a slight increase of 0.8% year-on-year.
Rocky Gap Casino’s revenues were pretty much the same as the year prior, with the slightest 0.04% rise in gaming revenues.
The June 2025 revenue figures will be concerning for land-based casino operators as June 2024 also saw a year-on-year revenue decline, marking two consecutive years of shrinking takes. That comes amid MGM National Harbor trying to introduce new measures to attract customers.
The casino opened a new 2,400 square-foot Ultimate Fire Link gaming zone at the start of June, the first of its kind at an MGM Resorts International property. The gaming space features 48 Ultimate Fire Link slot machines.
“We are thrilled to welcome guests to the Ultimate Fire Link Zone, one of the DMV’s most unique gaming venues. This new space aligns with our continuous efforts to deliver a one-of-a-kind gaming experience for our guests,” said Alex Alvarado, MGM National Harbor’s Vice President of Casino Operations, at the launch.
However, this new gaming space did nothing to arrest the decline at MGM National Harbor, which is symbolic of the whole state’s struggles, considering its revenues dropped at the same rate as the state-wide total.

My love for gambling and casinos started early when my grandad handed me a video poker machine as a kid, sparking a lifelong fascination with the game. I grew up watching Celebrity Poker religiously and that turned into my organizing March Madness bracket tournaments all throughout elementary and high school—making every March a high-stakes competition among friends before I was even old enough to place a real bet.
