Earlier this year, Galaxy Gaming announced a deal with Hasbro to produce new table game products for Monopoly, Battleship and Yahtzee. At the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas, the company finally revealed two of the three new titles.

Galaxy showcased Monopoly and Yahtzee betting options for casinos during the expo as promised. Unfortunately, Battleship was not ready for the public, but a representative said it could still be released in the future.

The Monopoly progressive side bet can be integrated into existing carnival-style table games such as pai gow and baccarat.  For casinos that want to offer a more immersive Monopoly experience, the standalone game Free Ride: Monopoly Edition will be available too. Galaxy also previewed its Yahtzee progressive side bet alongside another proprietary game called Three Dice, a dice game similar to baccarat.

Both brands are instantly recognizable. Monopoly was first released 90 years ago in 1935, while Yahtzee has been around since 1956. Monopoly has a stronger casino presence, with having appeared in slot machines for nearly three decades. Those slots could get a revival this year thanks to another Hasbro casino game deal with Aristocrat.

Monopoly Table Game Progressive Side Bets

The Monopoly progressive appears to be the standout offering among Galaxy Gaming’s new board game options. The system can be used with a variety of their table games including Three Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em and Heads Up Hold’em Extreme (UTH). Ultimately, the company would like for casinos to use their versions of these games than a competitor.

There are two levels of Monopoly progressive betting options. Strip casinos will likely use the $5 and $10 bets, while smaller regional casinos may choose $1 and $5.

Winning a progressive jackpot may require different hands for each denomination. For example, in Heads Up Hold’em Extreme, the largest jackpot for the higher bet comes from a flopped royal flush, while the highest progressive for the lower bet pays for any royal flush. Prizes are not pro-rated by bet amount, so the larger option does not simply pay twice as much as the smaller side bet.

Mr. Monopoly appears on the progressive side bet tote board at random, placing houses and hotels that can apply multipliers up to 10 times on selected hands each round. Based on watching several hands, this appears to be random and not based on a pattern. Players interested in multipliers would likely have to participate in every round rather than move in and out. It's a smart move on Galaxy's part to keep players engaged and encouraging consistent betting.

Galaxy’s marketing sheet claims the game adds “volatility without compromising the house edge.” Progressive side bets are not for everyone, but the animation and randomness of Mr. Monopoly could add extra excitement for jackpot hunters.

Ride Free: Monopoly Edition

Ride Free is a Galaxy's blackjack style game that plays similarly to regular blackjack with some key differences. Players do not have to double their wager if they split or double down. They can split any pairs except cards with a value of 10 and can double on any two-card hand totaling 9, 10 or 11 for free.

The Get Out of Jail Free side bet pays the player if the dealer busts with a 22. Free Parking prizes are paid based on the number of Ride Free lammers (plastic discs) a player collects each round.

While the added Monopoly-themed side bets enhance the theme, they also add cost to play. All of the options can add up quickly, and a $10 blackjack game could become a $25 blackjack game once all options are in play.

Yahtzee Roll to Riches

Yahtzee Roll to Riches builds on Galaxy Gaming’s Three Dice Duel. It is a dice game that plays similarly to baccarat.

The dealer uses two shakers: one with three red dice and another with three blue dice. Players bet on which color will be closer to nine, with totals over nine dropping the first digit. As in baccarat, players can also bet on a tie.

Like the Monopoly game, Yahtzee offers two progressive bet sizes, and random multipliers can increase the size of the prizes. Expect additional side bet options to be added later.
