Delaware Casinos up 31% in August, Delaware Park Gives Back to the Community

Delaware's three casinos, Delaware Park, Bally’s Dover, and Harrington Casino, generated $45 million in revenue last month, up 31% compared to the previous year’s figure of $34.3 million.

On top of having a successful month, Delaware Park has also been making headlines after donating $12,000 to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in August. This is not the only time Delaware Park has been pictured giving back to its community. In February, the casino revealed that it had donated over $130,000 to 12 local charities throughout 2024 at various events, including its Halloween-themed Blood Drive, Bark at Del Park, and Christmas Toy Drive.

The other two casinos, Bally’s Dover, which rebranded in 2021, made a $6,000 donation last year to the Delaware Council on Gambling Problems, while Harrington Casino revealed at the start of this year it had donated up to $22,000 to local charities, Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Table games revenue also increased, rising from $3.5 million to $5.1 million, a 43.5% increase year-on-year.

Delaware Park Donates $12K to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

Delaware Park Casino continues to outshine inside and outside the casino floor. The casino has been showing why it's the biggest revenue generator in The First State, with another timely donation given back to its community.

Last month, the casino donated $12,000 to local cancer research charity Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. The father of the charity’s founder, Jay Scott, accepted the donation on behalf of the organization.

“It’s amazing that Delaware Park has been supporting Alex’s Lemonade Stand since 2005,” Scott, co-executive director of ALSF, said. “They have seen us grow from a startup organization to now the largest childhood cancer charity in the world. I just want to thank Delaware Park for being with us along the way.”

According to the casino, it accepted donations from casino patrons through donation boxes and redemption machines throughout June. Employees could also donate to the cause by paying $5 a week to wear jeans to work.

“Delaware Park Casino is proud to partner with these important organizations to help raise awareness and funds for the valuable work they do,” said Terry Glebocki, Delaware Park’s president and general manager. He also added that the casino has plans to support more charities in the coming months.

My love for gambling and casinos started early when my grandad handed me a video poker machine as a kid, sparking a lifelong fascination with the game. I grew up watching Celebrity Poker religiously and that turned into my organizing March Madness bracket tournaments all throughout elementary and high school—making every March a high-stakes competition among friends before I was even old enough to place a real bet.
