Planet Hollywood has a new poker room on the mezzanine level of its Las Vegas casino.

The room opens just a couple of weeks before the World Series of Poker begins May 27 at two neighboring casinos, Paris and Horseshoe.

There hasn’t been a poker space at Planet Hollywood since the roped-off area on the main casino floor closed in 2021. The new room on the second level is dedicated solely to poker. It shares the floor with the Criss Angel Theater, several restaurants and Reflections Spa for anyone needing to unwind after a bad beat.

The new poker room clocks in at 4,800 square feet and is open 24 hours a day. There are 12 tables for cash games and another 11 for tournament play. For comparison, the Hall of Fame Poker Room at Horseshoe has 20 tables.

The room is hosting four $100 no-limit hold ’em tournaments daily at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. At launch, the room features a “High Hand Phrenzy” promotion, awarding $100 every 30 minutes to the player with the highest hand.

Planet Hollywood is part of the Caesars Rewards program. Players earn $1 in comps for every hour of poker played.

In addition to the main poker room there’s a private backroom that is meant to evoke a vibe similar to the High Stakes Poker games on TV. While the room will host private poker games it can also be used as a room to stream poker events.

The new space keeps the Planet Hollywood theme alive with images from movies like The Hangover and Ocean’s Eleven. There are 21 TVs in the poker room but those will most likely show sports like other poker rooms.

Poker Leaving the Casino Floor

Poker has been a mainstay of casinos for years. However, even with the addition of Planet Hollywood there fewer than 20 poker rooms in Las Vegas.

There appears to be a shift in where poker rooms might live as Las Vegas continues to evolve. Last year, the Venetian moved its poker room to the Grand Canal Shoppes. The old space is now being used for stadium gaming and slot machines.

The space on the Planet Hollywood that was used for poker before closing in 2021 is also occupied by slot machines.

Caesars Palace closed its poker room next to the sportsbook last year. A new temporary room will open later this month in the Appian Way retail area. Caesars will announce a permanent location in the future.
