Online casinos have personalities; you’ll get on better with some than others! If one on this list grabs you, seize the opportunity and get playing now. If not, I’ll dig a bit deeper we’ll find the best site for you.

  • The list is based on your location. See offers elsewhere by clicking the down arrow at the end of the title.
  • If your state hasn’t regulated online casinos, you’ll see a list of sweepstakes casinos where you can still win real money.
  • If you get no results, it’s because that state has no legal online casinos. Get calling your local legislators!

TIP: Click on the pink text at the top of the listing e.g. “BetMGM Bonus” for our site review. Click the Play Now button to set up your account. Note the bonus code, you’ll need it when you sign up.

Not ready to decide yet? Consultancies like EKG will sell you a report on US casino sites for only $2,000. But you don’t want to do that! I can tell you that Bet365’s software is getting better by leaps and bounds but still isn’t as good as DraftKings’. And my advice comes free!

I’ll put the spotlight on my own top 10 online casinos so you can see how they compare.

The rest of this page is all for players in states with state-regulated real money online casinos. That means NJ, PA, MI, WV, CT, DE and RI. If you're in another state you may still be able to play at one of our recommended sites that offer free sweeps coin bonuses.

Compare Online Casinos

Click on the casino icons or search for the casino brands you want to compare: I love this tool and strongly recommend it. You get loads of useful information about each casino.

Note it only works for the location where you are and it will pop up in a new window.

Fastest Payout Casinos

I get asked about this issue a lot. Put simply, there are no casino sites that payout faster than others in the regulated market. That doesn't mean that some payouts aren't faster than others, they are and you can take advantage of that.

When you cash out, first the casino goes through a process to authorize the payment. This depends on:

  • The size of the withdrawal - bigger withdrawals can trigger anti-money laundering checks.
  • Whether the withdrawal triggers a need for an IRS W2 tax form.
  • Whether the necessary Know Your Customer checks are complete.

Small withdrawals get processed automatically bar occasional audit checks which only take minutes. The regulations are the same for all legal US online casinos so they all carry out these checks in about the same amount of time.

What makes the most difference is the method you use to withdraw. If you want a paper check sent through the post, don't blame the casino if you have to wait for the US Postal Service to deliver it!

My principles here are simple:

  • I want my money fast
  • I don't want to use my main bank account
  • I don't want to gamble on credit

For these reasons I recommend you use third party payment processors such as Google Pay, Apple Pay, Netellerand PayPal. There are plenty of others to choose from. Use these services and your money arrives almost instantly after approval and you can use it instantly without your bank taking days to approve a transfer.

Find your favorite payment processor and every casino you play at becomes a "fastest payout casino."

Best Payout Casinos

It's a legitimate question, do some online casinos pay out more money than others? The joy of the state regulated US online casino market is the answer is no. At least not so you'll notice.

The Return to Player percentage (RTP%) is the measure we look at. And that is based on the game not the casino. It's a statistical measure that tells us what percentage of our money we will get back in winnings when we play casino games.

  • Example: Wager $1,000 at a 99% RTP slot and you expect to get back $990 in winnings. Your play cost you $10, not bad at a dollar a spin. A 90% RTP slot would cost you a $100 for the same amount of play. In other words RTP really matters!
  • Casino RTP%: The overall RTP% for a casino depends on how many players played at what different RTP games on any particular day.

The good news is that regulators set minimum RTP% limits that regulated casinos must meet. For example the Pennsylvania laws mandate that all slot machines, live and online, must pay out at least 85%. Most online casinos show RTP numbers for every game, so you can check them easily.

Back to the list of casinos above and you'll find they all offer games at really high RTP%. You can easily find slots at over 98% RTP and versions of table games with similar numbers.

Joss Wood

Online casinos offer many games where the RTP% and therefore the best payouts are over 95%. They are much better value than state lotteries where the payout percentage ranges from as low as 40% to highs around 70%.

My Advice for New Players

Experienced players will laugh at some of these. But I remember how much money I lost not knowing this stuff when I first started playing.

  • 👉 The biggest bonus isn’t always the best. Always read the terms and conditions to make sure your normal play is enough to earn the payout.
  • 👉 When you sign up at a casino you will be asked to verify your age and identity. This is what the regulator demands so that operators can prevent underage gambling and money laundering. If you don’t verify deposit and withdrawal methods, you won’t be able to cash out any winnings.
  • 👉 As soon as you have signed up, I suggest you go to the Responsible Gambling menu. You’ll find it on the top navigation bar at some casinos and in the bottom of page menu at others. You can set various limits and even self-exclude if you want to. These tools help you stay in control of your gambling.
  • 👉 Practice on the demo version of slots games before you put your money on the line. We have hundreds of slot titles which you can play for free to build up your skills.
  • 👉 At Live Dealer tables, you can see the dealer; the dealer can’t see you!
  • 👉 Sign up for the casino that looks right to you. But when you have understood how it works, try another from our list. Then you’ll see that the experience really is different at different casinos.
  • 👉 Always check wagering requirements. They make a huge difference to the expected value of your welcome bonus. The less you have to risk to get your bonus the more value you receive. We have a free wagering calculator on our bonus page.
  • 👉 The points you earn from the Loyalty VIP program are seriously valuable. When I started I didn’t know what they were. I got over $1,000 of cash which I didn’t know I had, so don’t ignore them!

What You Need to Do to Sign Up at an Online Casino

In a regulated market registering at an online casino is a little more complicated than downloading an app. Follow these steps and you’ll be fine:

  1. ✅ Click on one of the “Play Now” links on this page. This takes you to a landing page at the official site of the casino brand. Using the links means you won’t end up at a scammer ghost site.
  2. ✅ If asked, select your state and then start filling in the registration form. You must give personal details under the regulations to avoid under age gambling. You will be asked to verify your identity and age.
  3. ✅ Make a note now of any Bonus or Promo code we list, you will be asked for it. This is good for us, but it also ensures you get the offer we advertise.
  4. ✅ After entering your personal details, remember to tick the boxes to show you are old enough to play and have read the terms and conditions.
  5. ✅ Almost there! Now you can download the app and log in using the details you have used to register.

At this point we recommend that you go to the responsible gaming section (often listed at the bottom of the page). Set up any time or financial limits you want to use to stay in control of your play.

Before you start playing make a final check of the welcome bonus terms and conditions. Now have fun!

Ready to Play?

By now I hope you have a good idea of the choices you have. Between the list and my picks you probably have the choice of the top 20 online casinos in the US.

Any of the brands above will be safe bet. If you are hesitant, you should know that all these are legal, fully regulated online casinos so your personal data and money are safe. You can always change your mind if you don’t like the casino you have chosen.

Most players end up with three or four sites that work for them. Others make the most of the VIP casino schemes and put all their play onto one site. I can’t take you any further, the next step is up to you; choose a casino, hit that Play Now button and go and have some fun!
