As part of the Google Wallet app, Google Pay, or GPay, lets you link debit/credit cards or bank accounts to your Google Wallet. I use it a lot for online purchases simply because it means I don't have to give my payment card details to companies I don't know. Google Wallet "tokenises" your details, I'll explain later, which keeps everything secure.
Key features are:
- ✅ Integrated with Google Wallet, set up on your Android phone or laptop
- ✅ Add payment methods – credit/debit cards + more
- ✅ Tokenization for security – no card or bank details given to the casino
- ✅ No costs to use
- ✅ Contactless payments at retail outlets using your mobile
- ✅ Deposits appear almost instantly
- ✅ Enhanced security - authenticate via a PIN, passcode, or biometrics such as 3D face scanning or fingerprint recognition
To set up Google Pay on a mobile device, download the Google Wallet app, sign in with your Google Account, and add a payment card by scanning it or entering the details manually. You'll need to verify the card with your bank, set up a screen lock, and enable NFC for contactless payments in your phone's settings to use it in stores.
Step 1. Download and open the Google Wallet app
Download the Google Wallet app from the Play Store on an Android phone (version 6.0 or higher). If you have an older app called Google Pay, you can likely update it to Google Wallet. Open the app and sign in with your Google Account.
Step 2: Add a payment card
Tap Add to Wallet at the bottom of the home screen, then select Payment card. Scan your card with the camera or tap Enter details manually to type in the card number, expiration date, and security code. Tap Save and continue and accept the issuer's terms.
Step 3: Verify your card
You'll be prompted to verify your payment method. Choose an option from the list, such as a text message or a call from your bank, to receive a verification code. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the verification process.
Step 4: Set up for contactless payments
Ensure your phone's NFC is turned on. You can usually find this setting by going to Settings, then Connected devices, and Connection preferences.
Finally, and optional but I do recommend it: Set Google Wallet as your default payment app. Set up a screen lock on your phone if you haven't already.
Now you are set up, you can return to the list of casinos I posted above and choose a Google Pay casino to use your new app! Here's how to use it at online or at a casino app.
