A British pro poker player has secured £14,370 payday as the Main Event action heats up on Day 6 of the PartyPoker Tour Birmingham. The day ended with a decisive finish in the £50,000 guaranteed Mini Main Event, as British pro Robert Douras outlasted Tai Hoang in a heads-up battle that took just one hand to seal. Douras lifted the trophy and the £14,370 top prize, wrapping up an eventful day at Genting Casino Resorts World.

Sit n Go Kicks Off Festivities

The day opened at noon with an Invitational Sit n Go featuring the full PartyPoker Tour team: Sam Acheampong, Barry Carter, Asif Warris, Alexander Georgiev, Natalie Bromley, Joe Beevers, and Glenn Brown, joined by PartyPoker ambassadors Jaime and Matt Staples.

It was the first time the lineup had appeared together on felt, a highlight for fans following the event’s live stream.

Beevers, founder of The Hendon Mob, stole the spotlight, winning the exhibition and quipping, “I haven’t run this good in 20 years.”

The Mini Main Event Finale

Fourteen players returned at 3 p.m. for the Mini Main Event’s closing session, led by Matthew Negus. Within hours, the final table was set, with Douras entering as the overwhelming chip leader on 6.9 million. Thomas Busst trailed close behind on 6.1 million, while Tai Hoang sat third with 3.9 million.

By 8 p.m., after several eliminations streamed live (on a 30-minute delay), Douras was crowned champion, completing an impressive run that solidified his growing reputation on the UK poker circuit.

International representation added flavour, Iceland’s Einar Kristjansson joined the mix, alongside Italy’s Calogero Ambrogio Morreale, fresh off his Mystery Bounty win earlier in the week.

PLO Masters Big O Adds to the Buzz

At 6 p.m., the anticipated PLO Masters Big O, created by JJ Hazan, took the spotlight. Team members Barry Carter and Sam Acheampong joined the poker tables alongside Georgina James, but it was Lewis Jordan Henderson who claimed victory, earning £1,980 and another trophy to follow his earlier R.O.S.E.T. title.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
