Wynn Spa Review: A Celestial Yet Cozy Escape on the Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS – Stepping into the spa at the Wynn feels like stepping into another world from the hustle and bustle of the casino floor. Nestled in the spa, there is a beautiful zodiac room with moody lighting and constellations on the ceiling that give it this celestial atmosphere. The plush chairs and serene music make it tempting enough to settle in and forget about the outside world.

It was after spending about five hours in the space that I could understand why someone might book a spa treatment here and end up not wanting to ever leave. I arrived to explore the 45,000-square-foot Spa at Wynn with high expectations, as it is one of the most luxurious properties in the city.

But I had heard mixed reviews from visitors to the spa who said it was on the smaller side and that the aesthetic felt a bit too loud. After relaxing at the Luxor for an all-inclusive staycation, the perfect way to cap it off would be with a spa treatment here at the Wynn. I booked a 50-minute custom massage for around $200, which puts it in the same range as spa experiences on the Strip.

My last spa visit was at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, where I spent close to $300. When it comes to the spas at Wynn and Encore, the former usually gets more of the hype since it is larger with more amenities. However, it’s also undergoing major renovations to further transform it (which I didn't think was possible). A couple of amenities recently opened, like their steam room, although things are not fully ready to go just yet. The spa might be smaller than others on the Las Vegas Strip, but its relaxation spaces are among the coziest in Vegas.

The aesthetic is right in line with the classic luxury casino, but you still feel like you’ve escaped from the slots. Anyone can leave this place feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, but here are all the important things you should know if you’re considering visiting this spa.

Zodiac-Themed Lounge Sets the Mood

The spa is located on an upper floor of the Wynn, accessible via an elevator near the buffet entrance. To receive a treatment at the spa, you'll either need to call to make an appointment in advance or walk in on weekdays. I arrived an hour before my 1 p.m. appointment to give myself plenty of time to get settled and enjoy the amenities beforehand.

As with many spa bookings, you do need to add a card on file in case you cancel or don't show up, and the front desk staff was all helpful. After arriving, I was promptly greeted and given a tour of all of the amenities in the women's spa area.

First impressions definitely wowed me. Even just the waiting area feels polished and luxurious, setting the tone for what’s behind all the doors to the spa. We first saw the women's waiting lounge, which felt inviting, with soft floral wallpaper that made it feel like Martha Stewart had set it all up. It feels cozy with the fireplace and a TV, making it easy to relax before getting your spa treatment.

Guests can help themselves to snacks here as well, including addictive chocolate-covered cranberries, popcorn, and granola. There's also a coffee station and a variety of teas to sip on, as you should always try the luxury teas at the hotel.

This is also the main area where you can use electronic devices and laptops, unlike the rest of the spa. I checked my phone occasionally throughout the visit, but I appreciated that you're encouraged to put technology away and enjoy the surroundings. After all, you're paying money for the space anyway. The spa asks guests not to take photos or videos in several areas, so all photos in this review were taken with no guests present.

The crown jewel of all the amenities is the zodiac-themed relaxation lounge in between the men's and women’s spa. If you have a guest of the opposite gender, this is the only space that you'll be able to enjoy together. The rest of the spa is gender-separated, since you're not required to wear a bathing suit in those areas.

The ‘nightfall’ aesthetic of this co-ed lounge creates a completely different atmosphere from the bright aesthetic in the waiting area and the rest of the women's spa. I found myself moving between the two, whether I wanted to disconnect and relax in the co-ed area, or check my phone and get some work done in the women's lounge.

Heated Chairs & Jacuzzi Make It Easy to Get Lost in Time

The jacuzzi area is another highlight of this spa. A brass partition provides a little bit of privacy for any guests entering and exiting the water, as this is a clothing-optional area. The jacuzzi itself has a controllable whirlpool, and there are two deluge showers nearby that gush out water to rinse off. It's not your average rinse-off after a jacuzzi soak.

Across from the jacuzzi are about four heated tepidarium chairs, giving a nice place to unwind before or after a service. Sitting in the warmed chairs is one of the most relaxing things you can do – it’s easy to drift off into a nap. You'll look up at windows that expose parts of the sky and the Wynn hotel tower, just a small reminder of how luxurious the atmosphere around you is.

The jacuzzi area and the co-ed room were completely changed during the 2019 renovations. The zodiac room used to be completely skylit, while the jacuzzi had more of a tropical aesthetic. But the current designs work well, especially in the co-ed room as a contrast to the bright spa.

The rest of the women's spa is pretty straightforward, with amenities including locker rooms, showers, a sauna, and a steam room. The locker rooms have a vanity area with tools like hair dryers and brushes for anyone who needs to get ready for a night out after a spa visit.

The shower facilities and restrooms are completely private, so you don't have to worry about someone peeking in through a gap. If you forget any toiletries, pretty much everything is provided for you.

The selection of amenities isn’t as extensive as at some newer spas on the Strip, but everything was comfortably arranged. If you are looking for more to do during your spa day, you may want to consider other spas that have areas like Himalayan salt rooms or aromatherapy rooms. There is a fitness center at Wynn’s spa, but only hotel guests receive access to it.

Once it was time for the massage, I headed to the treatment room to prepare for complete relaxation.

Putting the Massage to the Test

I was impressed with the spa's amenities, but the service needed to be better for it to be a 100% positive experience. You can find skilled massage therapists at properties on and off the Strip, but the surroundings are a huge part of what you're paying for at a luxury resort. The 50-minute custom massage was the most affordable service and offered a way to enjoy the spa without committing to the more elaborate services. The front desk receptionist at the spa told me that bills can easily get into the thousands for luxury guests wanting a full day of relaxation.

My therapist, Tracy, was kind and professional throughout the entire appointment. The spa can accommodate any preferences, whether you prefer a soft or firm pressure or a male or female therapist. The treatment room was dark and quiet, so it’s easy to fully settle into the experience.

Once the massage is over, you’ll feel both energized and relaxed, with enough energy to enjoy the rest of the day rather than just wanting to head straight home. Even when I wasn't receiving a service, the interactions I observed were very pleasant. The spa encourages you to stay off your phone, so you can fully soak up the experience and unplug.

At the end of my service, I received a box of chocolates from my therapist, which was a nice touch. I don't know if this is standard for every massage, but it capped off an amazing experience.

Why the $200 Massage is Worthwhile

For anyone debating whether this spa is worth visiting, it's the perfect intimate spa experience. The spa is indeed a bit smaller than those at neighboring casino resorts, but that almost makes it hard to want to leave for the day.

You do get come-and-go access with your treatment, so if you do decide to leave and want to come back before the day is over, you're more than welcome to do so. The coed space is a big part of the appeal and is much more spacious if you need a refresher from the gender-separate areas.

This spa also has very limited coed amenities, so it wouldn't be ideal for opposite-gender pairs looking to experience it together unless you are getting massages in the same room. The resort's 20% discount for locals makes it a great deal for those looking to spend a nice solo spa day on the Strip.

Wynn Spa lets you spend the full day there with an appointment, unlike some resorts like Resorts World and Fontainebleau, which impose limits on how much time you can spend in the facilities. It’s best to arrive at least 30 minutes before the appointment if you want to fully enjoy the amenities, so you can explore everything without rushing straight to the treatment.

This spa is a strong choice for anyone seeking a great massage or facial in the Wynn’s luxurious setting. The staff and the atmosphere really do make it a memorable experience, which is no surprise considering how much of a priority wellness is for many casinos now.

I would absolutely return here to see what this spa looks like at night, as there are a variety of skylit areas. Staff did say that the spa is typically the quietest in the early mornings, so anyone looking to avoid the crowds should book in the morning rather than with the wave of evening convention guests.
