Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City announced $50 million in renovations on Monday, with the new amenities and upgrades scheduled to be completed this summer.
The announced improvements include new restaurants, upgraded hotel rooms, and an indoor mini golf course.
The Ocean’s 18 Mini Golf & Bar will be perhaps the most dramatic addition to Ocean Casino this summer. The facility will cover approximately 8,000 square feet of space on two floors, and will utilize holographic installations that use technology similar to that seen at the Sphere in Las Vegas. That will include a hologram of a 12-foot-long great white shark hovering above the bar. Ocean Casino Resort says that the course is expected to open late in the summer this year.
(Curiously, Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas also recently opened a mini-golf attraction.)
Three new restaurants were included in the announcement, two of which have strong regional ties.
La Scala’s Fire, an Italian-American restaurant that has locations in South Jersey and Philadelphia, will open early this summer in a space next to the mini golf facility. A cheesesteak shop called High Steaks and a smoothly bar known as Blend will also be opening this summer.
Those three dining options will be joined by two announced earlier this month which will be developed by Philadelphia-based restaurateur Stephen Starr. While the names and opening dates of the Starr restaurants have yet to be announced, one will be a Thanksgiving-themed location, while the other will feature a menu based on steak frites.
“It feels like a full circle moment for me to work on restaurant projects in Atlantic City, a place where I formed some of my finest childhood memories, both at the beach and on America’s most popular boardwalk, where I worked as a teenager,” Starr said in a press release announcing his new restaurants.
The Starr-backed venues are coming after a previous deal to bring in four restaurants from fellow Philadelphia restauranteur Michael Schulson fell through earlier this year.
The summer renovations will also feature upgrades to 559 hotel rooms and suites on the property. That push will complete Ocean Casino Resort’s plan to upgrade all 1,860 of its guest rooms. A new women’s clothing boutique retail outlet known as Sweetheart Coast will also open early this summer at the Shops at the Row.
A $4 million upgrade is also planned for the casino’s Asian gaming space. The area will double to 8,000 square feet in size, providing room for up to 32 table games, including pai gow poker and baccarat.
These renovations are some of the final changes coming as a part of a seven-year, $270 million overall renovation of Ocean Casino, a makeover which began in 2018.
Ocean Casino Resort, which opened in 2012 as the Revel Casino Hotel, is one of the larger and more popular resorts in Atlantic City. In March 2025, Ocean ranked third in overall gaming win among Atlantic City properties, bringing in $34.7 million for the month. That trailed only the Borgata ($58.4 million) and the Hard Rock ($44.5 million) in terms of gaming revenue.
