New Hampshire Casinos Record $23.6 Million in Revenue for October

Charitable gaming revenue in New Hampshire hit the $23.6 million mark during October, up from the previous year’s figure of $14.8 million and representing a year-on-year increase of 59.3%.

The figures, published by the New Hampshire Lottery Commission, revealed that of the combined total, historic horse racing accounted for $18.3 million, up 58.2% year-on-year from $11.6 million. Games of chance recorded $5.3 million in revenue, also up on the previous year’s figure of $3.2 million and representing a year-on-year rise of 64%.

The dramatic revenue growth is good news for charitable causes in the state. Earlier this month, the largest gaming venue in New Hampshire, The Nash, announced that it will present $1.3 million to eight non-profit organizations in the state, bringing its total charitable donations to $13 million in nine months.

Big Rises and New Launches Skew Revenue Figures

The revenue growth in New Hampshire can partly be explained by the launch of new venues that were not operational in October 2024. Casino Salem, Revo Casino Conway, and The Nash were not featured in last October’s revenue tables and contributed over $7.5 million in revenue.

Two casinos showed spectacular revenue rise as business increased dramatically. Revo Casino Dover increased its revenue from $0.2 million to $1.5 million, representing a 664.6% increase, while Revo Casino Lebanon showed a 312.2% rise to $1.7 million. Both were down to updated venues, which saw both casinos expand their game offerings to patrons.

These successes obscured some big declines, particularly at Gate City Casino, which saw revenue halve year-on-year from $3.1 million to $1.6 million. Chasers Poker Room and Aces+ Eights Casino also showed significant year-over-year losses of 23.4% and 19.6% respectively.

Nash Casino Distributes $1.3 Million to Charities

The Nash Casino, which has become New Hampshire’s largest charitable gaming venue, has announced the presentation of a total of $1.3 million to eight local nonprofit organizations on December 23. The funds were generated from November revenues across games of chance, historical horse racing machines, and newly launched video lottery terminals.

The latest distribution takes the total raised in the venue’s nine months of operation to $13.3 million. The beneficiaries include community, youth, and veterans’ organizations such as Helping Our Pupils Excel NH, Hudson Lions Club, and Nashua Police Patrolman’s Charities.

New Hampshire Towns Face Casino Opt-Out Deadline

Against a backdrop of rising gaming revenue, several New Hampshire towns are facing deadlines to decide whether to ban or allow keno and charitable casino gaming.

The law, which came into effect on July 1, allowed keno across the state unless a town or city votes to ban it. Communities have until 2031 to ban casinos or other games of chance, and towns that want to implement the ban must hold local ballots or arrange citizen petitions to initiate a vote.

Several cities, including Concord, Keene, and Portsmouth, have already voted to ban keno, but some lawmakers argued that the opt-out model places an administrative burden on towns.

I grew up watching Celebrity Poker religiously and that turned into my organizing March Madness bracket tournaments all throughout elementary and high school—making every March a high-stakes competition among friends before I was even old enough to place a real bet.
