While Missouri casinos continue to post positive revenue growth, most attention in the state is on the upcoming launch of regulated sports betting. Since many operators will need a casino partnership to gain a license, Missouri casinos are also concerned.
Missouri sports betting must launch by December 1, 2025, although Missouri Gaming Commission Chair Jan Zimmerman has pushed for a sooner launch, estimated for fall 2025. Six licenses will be tied to professional sports teams, two for non-tethered operators, and 13 for casino operators.
Those licenses have already started to be claimed, with BetMGM inking a deal with Century Casino & Hotel Cape Girardeau, including plans to build a retail sportsbook at the facility. BetMGM’s strategy is shaped by executives like Vice President of Gaming Oliver Bartlett.
As the launch gets closer, more operators will look to make deals with casinos, so successful revenue growth could be key for these gambling locations.
