MGM Resorts is the latest casino operator in Las Vegas to test out an all-inclusive deal at Luxor and Excalibur. The package starts at $330 for two people and includes hotel accommodations, meals, shows, drinks, and parking.
The deal becomes available for stays starting April 6. There are no blackout dates, so packages are available on weekends and holidays. Reservations can be canceled up to 72 hours before arrival without penalty.
This could be useful for families or group vacations, since one person can coordinate everything. MGM says its online booking system allows guests to reserve multiple packages under the same name. Hotel staff will follow up to collect the names of all guests for each room.
MGM is just the latest casino operator to offer an all-inclusive deal, following in the steps of Caesars, Resorts World, Circa,, and Plaza. Some deals are better than others, but let’s see if there’s real value to this offer.
On the surface, this appears to be a strong value. Hotel rates fluctuate, but it’s possible to estimate the value per package.
The package includes a two-night stay for two people at Luxor or Excalibur in a double-occupancy room, so guests don’t have to share a bed. Additional guests can stay in the room, but their meals and other inclusions are not covered.
April room rates at Luxor and Excalibur start at $58 midweek and climb to $364 per night on weekends. That puts the two-night value between $116 and more than $700.
The price also includes the $45 nightly resort fee, adding another $90 in value.
The package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner at select restaurants, but guests are not limited to dining at their hotel. Additional participating venues are located at the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and New York-New York:
The deal is for specific menu items at each restaurant.
Each meal is valued at about $15 per person, or $30 per meal for two people. That’s a value of roughly $90 per day, or $180 for the stay.
One drink (alcoholic or nonalcoholic) is included with each meal, which adds an estimated $60 to $120 in value.
Guests can choose one show at Luxor or Excalibur:
Tickets typically start at $50 or more, putting the show's value at more than $100.
Check show schedules before booking, since some performances may be dark during your stay.
Two tickets to The Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York are included as well. Individual tickets start at $25, for a total value of about $50.
Parking costs $20 on weekdays and $25 on weekends at these properties. That’s a $40 to $50 value.
There’s clearly more than $330 in potential value. Here’s a rough breakdown.
The approximate value of the package is at least $636 for two people. The biggest savings come on weekends, when hotel rates can approach $700 for two nights.
Value will vary depending on how guests travel. Regional visitors driving to Las Vegas will benefit more from included parking, but those flying in may not use that perk.
Not everyone will care about riding the roller coaster, either, which reduces the practical value for some. Even without parking or the coaster, the package still delivers about $536 in value.
This deal actually looks like a deal on most days. However, the “starts at” $330 could make this a dud if MGM charges more for certain dates.
